This isn't the US where you can sue for big money. Successful litigation pays a pittance compared to the US model. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if they picked that number because it's ball park what a successful litigation would pay out. But it's unlikely litigation would be successful given the circumstances.

My very first thought was that it's an incredibly low sum. Nothing can replace a family member but I would like to see that figue increased at least five fold with an additional annual payment for any children until they turn 18.
