I’ve been using 0.7 ohm at 9w with an 18mg liquid. Doesn’t produce tons of smoke but gives me a good hit. This seems at variance with advice given with coils. 18-20w+? I don’t think so!! Coils and batteries last for ages! Now on day 3 with a 3000 mah device…

which make of coil?
if the nautilus coils then they can handle upto 23watts using 70vg but it doesnt mean you have to use that wattage. its just a guide.
ive got 90watt coils im running at 40watts and quite happy with that with plenty of flavour and cloud, and it prolongs the coil life a bit as well.

BIG difference between 9w and 40w though surely? Aspire and Innokin coils both at same settings

i think you misread. i said my coils were upto 90watt but im quite happy using 40w
so roughly same as you using 9w while the coil can go upto 23w
its all down to the individual taste and your sweet spot.

of course, the lower the wattage the longer the battery life.
0.7ohm coils were designed for lower nic strength at slightly higer wattage using thicker 70vg juice instead of the normal 50/50 for most of the other nautilus coils.

9w on a coil rated 18-20w
40w on a coil rated 90w

Both using a litle under 50% of recomended power.
With stock coils im usually at the lower end or a little under the recomended, I mostly use rebuildables though

If it works for you then youre doing it right.

Whatever the recommended rating is I would always start at the lowest or below and then find what suits me best in terms of flavour and vapour and then stick with that for a particular coil.

So no harm going way below recommended ratings then?

If you get the vape you like from it and it doesn't flood then there is no reason why you shouldn't vape lower than the recommended range The recommended range is just a recommendation and going lower won't damage the coil, however it doesn't work the other way - if you vape higher than the recommended maximum then you're pushing your luck and the coil will have a very short life.

Personally I find the stated maximum on most stock coils makes them die pretty quickly and prefer to stay closer to the lower end of the range.
