Hi guys, wondered if I could possibly get some quick advice on coils and ohms law and not melting my lips off haha... just bought an Athena squonk mod, I've been building coils and using an rda on a regulated mod for a while and have loved dripping but wanted to try squonk so... anyway I haven't got myself a ohm reader yet so I've been using the regulated mod as a guide, now I'm building for squonk I'm getting paranoid... I have a dual coil ni80 build reading 0.16 in the mod, using samsung 18650 25a batteries... if I squonk this am I going to die? many thanks in advance...
 
That'll be drawing 26.25 amps on a fully charged cell.

Pushing it imo.
 
Ohms law, as used for a single cell mech:

Volts/Resistance = Amps

For a fully charged cell your voltage is 4.2 volts.

4.2/0.16 = 26.25 amps.

Now, we might assume your ohm reading may have a margin of error - it could be 0.15 or 0.17, for instance.

4.2/0.15 = 28 amps
4.2/0.17 = 24.7 amps

Either way, you are close to, but probably a little over the Constant Discharge Rate of your cell when it is fully charged (assuming it really is a 25 amp cell - which Samsung is it?)

If it were me, I would put in a slightly higher build, so I'm not pushing the cell so hard.

I'm not familiar with the Athena myself so I can't comment on it's accuracy, but I use mods when building all the time. I tend to build on the mod that the atty will be used on.

Thanks guys, it's a Samsung INR 18650 25R battery... I'll build some more coils and save those for the regulated rda setup... so am I right in thinking that more wraps and larger diameter are the methods for raising resistance.... sorry for the questions but I'm new to squonk and want to get it right...

Yes, add a wraps or use a larger inner diameter.
 
Thanks... I'll try a 3.5 with 7 wraps and see what it comes in at... appreciate all the help, it's a bit scary first time haha
 
You should aim to be above 0.21 ohms on a Samsung 25R.

Or get proper 25 amp cells, like the Sony VTC5A, Molicel P26A, or Samsung 25S.

Fogstar.co.uk or 18650.uk are good vendors.
