Ohms logic confusion.

Can someone explain to me what to expect from going for a lower ohm coil or popping a dual coil onto my Aga-T2? Is it more flavour, more vapour, both?

I use lower ohm coils to get more flavour, vapour and throat hit out of my ego batteries as they are fixed voltage. If you have variable volts or watts it might not matter; I use some standard resistance attys on my MVP and just up the volts to make it right.

Well I did a dual coil, on a u-wick on my aga. got it to 1.5 ohms and when I fired it up, I got nothing but a bit of bubbling on the wick. Cranked it up gradually untl I reached 5 volts and got hardly any vapour at all. I rechecked contacts and ohm, but both were fine. atty got hot lol, but a huge let down. disconnected and tried each coil. 3 ohms and fired nice (all on same aga), pile of poo on duel grrr. stuck th u-wick on single coil 1.2 ohm, and vapes good for 2-3 puffs (45/55) then wait for vg to catchup lol. Not much flavour either but I think that's because I drilled an air hole above existing hole (its too high now).

Get yourself some 2mm stainless steel rope for a wick - boil it or heat it with a torch to clean/burn off any contaminants. wrap about 2 layers oxidised stainless mesh on the top just where you are wrapping your coil, shoot for about 1.8 to 2 ohms. It is almost fool proof, if you have ribbon wire even better.

I do have some ss rope kindly donated to me. should I shoot those ohms on a dual or single setup? Actually, can a ss rope be curved enough to u-wick an aga t2 lol. I'll try it in the morning. just need to locate those bolt croppers lol.

Just a single wick is fine, I think you will be amazed. The stainless wick sucks up the juice like a hoover, you will never get a dry hit and it will produce plenty of very flavourful vapour.

:threadhijacked:

Apologies for jumping in this thread. I've just had my first attempt at re-coiling, I used 2mm silica wick and nichrome coil wire at .20mm. I used 5 turns and it works great on my ego batts, the next day I received my Vamo and did an ohm check, this came out at .7 and my IGO-L wont work on the Vamo, how do I increase the ohms? More wraps? Tighter coil? The current coil is a bit messy (it was my first attempt!) Oh and how do I stop the wick from fraying?

5 wraps should work on a vamo you must have the coils touching or it might be that you have a very small coil if your using 2mm single strand. Id double up the 2mm as it should be fine

Did that, now firing at 1.5 ohms, many thanks.

If anything you need a looser coil not tighter to increase ohms but as SouthernVaper says you probably have a short somewhere. You need at least 1.1 ohms for a Vamo and preferably a bit more. If you get a 1.8mm drill bit and wrap your coil around that then slide the wick through the coil it should work out right.
