Hi all,

I am getting, well got a sore throat and the only way I can explain it is its raspy and hurts to swallow (a bit) also because of this for some reason I am missing the flavours of the juices (not always) now I was on 100 pg but am now using 50/50.
I have only been vaping for 4 days

I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as it is very annoying and to a certain extent id rather have a ciggy than the sore throat lol.

I was wondering if its worth cutting nic content down currently 18mg (i was a 20 a day smoker)

I stopped smoking completely and tbh I want it to remain this way............

Have a look at this thread http://www.planetofthevapes.co.uk/forums/showthread.php/1075-Side-effects-of-vaping

#1 side effect of PG is sore throat/dry mouth

Increase you water intake, this will help dramatically. If that hasnt sorted it in a few days, increase the VG in the mixes.

Already look at the thread, seemed to say what people were experiencing but not really a means of eliminating it............. I have moved from a pg to a 50/50 also will increase fluid intake and see how that goes.

I just wondered if there was any other way of seeing it off as although ciggy free not loving the sore throat

it's a passing thing, SouthernVaper. Consider it a rite of passage, it's kind of a transitional thing as you get used to the difference between smoking and vaping. I have found it has recurred over time, every now and then, but literally for a few hours or less. Decent levels of hydration are a big help as KMS said, as is a switch onto higher levels of VG. PG has been known to cause a reaction in some people, sore throat being one of the symptoms, some people can't tolerate it at all.

Plus if youre a 4 day Vaper presumably you're a 4 day ex smoker and your body will be reacting to the lack of its usual cocktail of chemicals designed to ensure the free passage of junk to your lungs from yer fags. Give it time, fluids and patience.

Ditto what everyone else has said so far on this. It's something that bothers me too and I've found a 50/50 mix better.

Stick with it, as it will soon go away.

Another thing that helps if you haven't got easy access to fluids is sucking on a boiled sweet to keep the moisture levels in your mouth up. Failing that - imagine your sucking on a lemon, gets the saliva flowing

thanks peeps just new to vaping and as you say new ex-smoker.

its good to hear it will pass

thanks

Hi SouthernVaper, your experiencing the same symptoms as I did when my PG/VG ratio was unbalanced. I switched to a 50/50 mix and everything has returned to normal. I was getting a dry/ sore/ swelling of the throat when my PG content was higher than the VG content

I am now using the 50/50 and I must say today it has been better not gone but loads better............... also as recommended I have made sure I am well hydrated.....................

Its been a good vaping day :clapping:

Glad to hear that things are improving SouthernVaper. I had exactly the same, plus permantly dehydrated no matter how many fluids I took. I swapped to 100% VG for a while and that is even sold for sore throats (can buy pure VG in Boots). I usually vape 50/50 now although sometimes use 70/30 PG. I keep away from pure PG because it gives me a sore throat.
As a new vaper dropping nic content is likely to make it harder to keep off the fags. Even now after almost 8 months I use 24 mgs in the mornings and some use a lot higher. The nic won't give you a sore throat but PG is known to be a throat irratant.
Also we all get similar withdrawal sypmtoms when we come off the fags, it's worth looking them up.
