Positive article from the Daily Mail

Can someone do a quick cut and paste job of the article, I really don't want to open a page on that website and in some small way encourage that group to continue publishing....

FINALLY some good news instead of the usual scaremongering.

I still can't stand DM though. Their journalists are a bunch of monkeys, I'm sure.

In summary ... occasional use of cigalikes is no more likely to result in quitting smoking than other methods.
Gen 2 devices are better than cigalikes.
Shock horror! Research tells us what we already know.

Lead author Dr Sara Hitchman from King’s College, said: ‘Our research demonstrates the importance of distinguishing between different types of e-cigarettes and frequency of use when examining the association between e-cigarettes and quitting.
‘At this point we don't know why people who use tank-type e-cigarettes daily are more likely to have quit.
‘Research suggests that tanks might deliver nicotine more effectively and perhaps be more satisfying to users, but there may also be other factors, including price and the ways that tanks allow the user to adapt the product, such as the nicotine content and flavour of the liquid.’

Professor Linda Bauld, of the University of Stirling, said: ‘What this new research tells us is what e-cigarette users already know.
‘The type of device, how often it is used, and how much nicotine it contains, all matter. Some devices will be effective to help smokers to quit and others less so.’
Prof Peter Hajek, director of the Tobacco Dependence Research Unit at Queen Mary University of London, said: ‘These two large surveys confirm that using e-cigarettes can help smokers reduce their cigarette consumption, and that some smokers may need to use e-cigarettes for a number of months or longer before they manage to stop smoking altogether.’

Yeah we as vapers already know this, but people who dont already vape or have no experience with anything vape related dont. Im impressed overall with the article it will point new people in the right direction.

Cheers for that dw1986 and scrumpox for providing the cut and paste... not telling us anything new but maybe is telling other non ecig users a bit more useful info as to why crappy cigalikes don't work for most...

No you are right, it doesn't tell us anything new, as mikra08 said it does however tell the uninformed general public something new, and any positive publicity we can get is only going to help

So what she's saying here is tanks provide more satisfaction and increase the chances of quitting, so the exact opposite of what the EU wants to do then? In fact regulating the nicotine delivery 'per puff' and reducing flexibility would seem to reduce the efficacy of e-cigarettes as a stop smoking device which is it's intended purpose.
