Pre-soak the wick

Hi,

Anyone here pre-soak wicks before putting into the coil? I thought the problem with the lack of amount of flavour I was getting from Veritas dripper was down to not leaving the wick to soak long enough once it was in the coil. However it didn't seem to make much difference, so I thought it might be because once the wick was hidden under the coil that the juice found it harder to get to on initial priming. Hence why I decided to pre-soak the wick. I'm surprised there's not much talk about this on vaping forums, found hardly any convo's about this.

Anyway just letting the wick soak a bit more then I'll try the veritas, see if it has improved in flavour.

PS: Pretty damn sure lack of decent flavour isn't down to coil build as have built many coils as different ohms, 28 and 30g wire, different coil positions, veritcal, dual, horizontal, parallel, closer to airhole, further away, higher, lower, etc, with minimal differences in performance.

Pre soaking a wick sounds like a right faff to me. Cant see why it would be of any worthwhile benefit whatsoever.

So to kick off the replies. Nope. I dont

then again,I am on cotton these days and i can see no end of mess in trying to presoak and feed that without issues.

most importantly though, i have no issues that would make me even consider pre soaking wicks. Things are working fine without the need for it. I always prime the wick after fitting, then wait a couple or minutes just to make sure its soaked itself then vape away without any problem.

Your probably right mate, lol a right faff for sure. Just trying to get better flavour somehow. Just thought about wick placement, so trying out moving the wick to different parts of the juice well. Do you dripper people have the wicks going straight down from the end of the coil, or push them in so both wick ends meet together at the bottom of the juice well, or push them out so the end of the wick is far away from the coil?

Mine always go out to the sides tucked as far away from the coil as possible. I want as much air to coil contact as possible so the area under the coil is clear to maximise airflow and the wick only touches the coil on the inside.

Have a search for Iteo wicking, sound like your method? It's something I keep meaning to try but haven't got round to it yet. Let us know how you get on with it lemon80

Or it could just be that you are one of the many people that the Veritas isn't for. Met a few other who were so utterly disappointed with it.
I tried many different coils in the one I had but nothing ever seemed to work on it for me. Wasted a f-k ton of juice trying to get the hype to work.

Far happier with a Mutation X and my beloved Mephisto

I don't pre soak a wick before putting your wick in if that's what you mean and I've never come across anyone that does. I just can't see it making any difference what's so ever coz if your saying you do it because it's not wicking properly then once the coil has vaporise your juice your back yo square one. If your not getting a good flavour from your RDA could be down to a few different problems like coil placement, the way you have wicked it or the wicking material your using or it can be down the RDA your using. This is where YouTube is your friend any RDA, RBA or RTA whatever it is the first thing I do is look to the reviewers I follow like Rip Tripper Or Twisted420 and watch how they set them up.

I've experimented with this and it works well.. It's Iteo Wicking.

The only problem I found was it held onto the flavour for a life time which I didn't like because I swap flavours a very lot in my RDA.

Is it just the veritas, you are having the problem with if so maybe the veritas is just not living up to your expectations. I personally love it I put a vertical coil in my own and find it really good with cotton just sitting on deck great flavour. Hope you find what works for you because it's a good RDA IMO .

wow thanks guys, really appreciate the help and advice. Nice to know someone cares :D I've just made a wick using the Iteo wicking method. I used normal organic cotton instead of muji. I'm getting almost dry hits with it though. Maybe it just needs breaking in a bit more.

As for it being the veritas' fault, I'm not sure. I don't see why it would work for others but not for me. Maybe it's down to the way vapour hits your taste buds or something that is minutely different in different rda's, or something. I dunno, I just don't think it can be that fiddly, but who knows. I don't like giving up on things, but maybe I have to get myself another rda, as I feel like I'm wasting my life on this sometimes. Feel like I've spent more time on getting the right setup for rda's/rba's than egyptologists have spent figuring out what the fuk the pyramids really mean. Then again I dug out my kayfun lite plus v2 the other day (I'm a gluten for punishment, lol) and built a coil identical to the dripper one (1.3ohm single parallel using 30g) and it also lacks taste just like it always has. So this makes me dismiss the attie being the problem somewhat.

Another thing to consider is wicking material as some of you have said. Maybe some people just don't get on with cotton. My gf says my rba/rda's have a strange undertone taste to them. She's using a MPT3 with t3s coils and she says my veritas tastes 'slightly better', but it nothing special. Well it should taste a lot better, considering the veritas is supposed to be one of the best flavour producing rda's when set up correctly. I think I have a small amount of silica somewhere that came with the kayfun, so I'll try and find it.

PS: Been vaping the Iteo wicked coil and it's not tasting so nice so I might remove it. I get glimpes of 'ok flavour' and then it goes.
