I am awaiting delivery of a couple of kanger protanks and have seen a few reviewers etc saying to remove the 'flavour' wicks but they don't make it clear why. why is this and what is the difference with leaving them in?

I think it's a matter of personal choice, as some people find removing the wick makes it very gurgly and unvapeable. Maybe try it with one head and see if you get on with it

Basically there needs to be enough wick in the head to stop it leaking and a flavour wick adds about 1mm ontop of the 3mm wick.
i rebuild the heads using 2mm silica and double it up to make a 4mm wick I find this works better than the stock heads

2mm doubled and coiled, or one 2mm with coil and a 2mm flavour wick?

Thanks
Bob

I have been using a 2.5mm wick with the coil and then i just use a bit of the wick that i trim off to go on top. I get far longer between cleans than I ever did with my vivi novas and I find that the wick never gets that high build up of gunk that I always used to get when constantly vaping RY4. It is also possible to remove the head, wash the wick and coil and dry burn it without even emptying the tank, plus i kinda like the taste the slightly dirty juice gives me.............wrongen!

I use these a lot - have never removed the flavour wick and have not had any problems.

I think (but not sure) that it is people that are using a particularly thick VG liquid find that it works better without the flavour wick.

i'm gonna be awkward here.
I use a 3mm wick, once. no flavour wick, with the rubber grommet still in place. I make sure the edges are frayed, and then vape away. No gurgles (Even when low on 100%pg...)
