Pulse BF Squonk Mod w/ Druga RDA

Please pardon my limited knowledge regarding all of this. I am trying to learn, I promise. I've set up the pulse with my druga and am running 1 Samsung 18650. Think I have dual alien claptons installed at the moment. I've tried it, but the mod only seems to fire very lightly. I can get a very small vape out of it.

Again, excuse my explanation there...

Hey!

I'm running the pulse with the Druga Sat on top. Works really well!

It's also my first squonker and mech so have kept it really simple. Especially as I'm only using an LG HG2 18650 batteries (until I get some 20700's from fogstar).

Dual coil, 24awg kanthal, 6 wraps, 3mm ID, coming in at 0.3ohms. Pulling 14amps.
According to steam engine I have 30% (give or take) amp headroom with these batteries. Which seems safe enough to me. :)2

Once I've got some 20700's I might go a bit lower (ohms wise) as I prefer a slightly warmer vape. But, It's a lovely little mod. And I actually prefer using it to my regulated mod!

Only niggle I have is the magnets... They attract metal dust like buggery! Joys of being a steel fabricator.......

Thanks for all your advice. I bought the flat wire that Bazz_74 recommended, but chose to use the supplied 24 GA Kanthal A1 Wire which came with Coil Master kit for now. The Pulse is still not really pulling much vape through, seems to take forever to get a good hit from it. Think I am getting a reading of about .30 ohms.

Please see the attached image of my not-so-good first build. All suggestions are appreciated, do I need the 20700 battery before I notice a difference?

coils look good, are they lined up with the airflow?
Hard to tell but there does seem to be alot of cotton there maybe blocking air reaching the underside of the coil?

The 20700 offers more amps which improves things but if you are using kanthal dual coil and its coming out at 0.3 you are roughly around 50 watts and the ramp up time aint the greatest, my advice is get yourself a couple of 20700s get a decent Nichrome wire build in there around 0.2 and youll notice a massive difference

remember to always check everything out on steam engine to make sure whatever you are doing is nice n safe mate

yeah, it depends what the OP is used to vaping with? ... if it's like 120 odd watts Smok mayhem then it is going to feel week. ... a 0.3 coil at 3.7 volts is only about 45 watts. you'll only get the 50w from a fully charged cell.

Single cell mechs are much better for 'moderate' vaping really, they have a reputation for cloud chucking but high powered regulated mods are really so much better for that kind of thing.

Thanks for your replies again. I get what you mean, I run a Voopoo Drag on too with a Cleito 120 usually at around 110w. So it's a bit of a difference. Was just expecting a bit more. So where do I need to go next? Should i set up using dual flat wire coils, or will it just be the same again?

Thanks for helping me out here everyone!

I have this wire...

But my first attempt, I really struggled to build using the coil master tools, as it was flat wire. Anyone have any advice?

I found when using the coil master tool the wire kept overlapping.
What I ended up doing was using the main part of the tool to hold the wire and coiling the wire round the spindle by holding the other end with pliers, pulling it tight and coiling it round the spindle whilst keeping it flat.
Hope that makes sense.

Keep practicing! This was my 1st attempt at making coils with the flat wire. My wire only arrived this afternoon. And used the coil master jig to build them.

Far from perfect but get a lovely vape from it.

Advise? It's kinda hard to explain.... But use the smallest amount of pressure on the jig whilst wrapping to keep the wrapped coil tight on the jig? If that made any sense whatsoever? o_O
Once it's flat in the jig and you start wrapping it, it wraps so easily. It's effortless.
