Ok, my first awful wick. Or at least I think it is. It might be a thicker juice but it just ain't wicking well. I'm having to wait quite a while between tokes or I'm getting very dry and unpleasant hits. Thr wick moved in the coil quite freely so I know it isn't strangling it. I'm going to let it sit to see if the wick just needs breaking in, if not back to the drawing board tomorrow
My limited experience has been if its a bad wick it's a bad coil and won't break in to something better. I'd change it. Go on. Hang the extra expense of another few inches of string n wire.
Right back again! Re did it and really took care this time. I went back to yesterday's method of having I thick main wick and 2 small wicks to go into the 3rd hole and...it still tastes like shit so I think I'll be flushing it out tomorrow. I think it's just too thick. In fairness though it was one that always burnt in my ce2s but I thought I'd try it in my rta. If anything it is wicking slightly better which just makes it burn faster! Thank god I got so much wire and wick before I started
Yep blamed the juice. It was my own nutella mix. I don't get on with diying chocolate stuff so I think I'll give it a miss in future. How well do these things usually cope with thicker juices?
Having acquired the Gripper I have once again (since I sold my Darwin) something I can measure the resistance of my coils with. I have just tested my current RDA coil and it's reading 1.6 which works fine with the voltage set to 3.7.
Wow that was a nightmare. I went to try and make a higher resistance coil. No problem! I've settled on a 2mm main wick with a 1mm wick to go into the 3rd tank hole and that's been working pretty well. So I attached the coil and threaded through the main wick, then got on with threading through the smaller one. It wouldn't go it so I used my spiky thing to push it through. It started to go in so I kept slowly pushing it bit by bit, then disaster! The wick split and was stuck inside the tank with no way of getting hold of it!!! I tried to flush it through-not a chance, so I got my needle and tried to get hold of it-still not a chance!!! Then I had a brainwave-kanthal! I made a fishing hook and spent the last 15 minutes trying to catch each strand. It took bloody ages but I managed to fish every strand out! Now I've gone back to making a loop of wick which sits just under the coil as it is a lot easier to thread through the hole on the plus side the coil is reading at 2.3 so at least I got that right!
