What's new

Rebuilding this coil??

Well it still is kanthal, nothing changes in the build at all but our good friend @stealthvape has taken all the hard work out of it :D At one time it used to be a lot of hard work...

I used to have to buy a reel of no resistance wire and a reel of kanthal wire and knot them together :)
Can you imagine how frustrating that job can be? How long I would spend getting the lengths correct?
How I was able to provide the forum with this chart? LOL

EDIT: One Benefit - The No resistance wire - the grommet will never get burnt as it does with a normal build

My goodness! I don't mind having a play around, but that would have been one fiddly and tedious job to undertake. Nice table btw ;)

As for the benefit - no one wants a burnt grommet do they now!

I still don't use them in protank heads.... and when I dry burn on occasion I am still known to singe a grommet or three :D

Although you can buy replacements grommets now, but replacments heads aren't too expensive ;)
The Naturevape ones are a little more so....

Why don't you use them?! Why risk the burning rubber?! Has laziness taken over?! lol

MrBertSpinkleton To be blunt yes, if my OH won't learn to coil his own heads I will do them as quickly as I can!!!

I use my mechs and tanks, clean and care for them with regularity, I have little sessions where everything is all laid out and contacts are cleaned, oiled, re-coiled, reset and so on, then I have to do all his...... :P

Surely using resistance wire is just as quick as kanthal or are you talking about buying them new each time?!

Get your OH on the coiling me thinks!

Sorry, resistance wire is Kanthal wire whichever word you prefer to use, it all means the same thing... :)

The pre made res no res set ups are welded (please dont ask, you can buy/build a wire welder, leave it at that), they are a god send, if I was rebuilding clearomiser heads, thats the way I would go, it costs buttons per rebuild and saves you the hassle of burnt insulators/seals. Greyhaze and stealthvape both do them in various resistances, as Gilliandrea says, you just pick your target resistance, if its single coil, you buy to match that, if its dual coil you double your target resistance and buy them (total resistance = individual coil resistance ÷ number of coils, assuming all coils are of equal resistance).

I'm going to have to get into this properly as my brother has donated an itaste vv for mrs gords to try out, I suspect she will want clearomiser's if she takes to it although I may get a taifun gs to put on it instead, a spheroid would be good but too expensive for my wallet unfortunately.

If you want to have a play lemme know, I could post you a few 1.8ohm res no res set ups to try out.

Funny you say that. I have just ordered a pack of 50 1.5ohm wires. Sod welding them together by hand. Thanks for your offer of sending them over. I would have taken you up on the offer had I seen this post earlier!
