i would really like a Stig Nucleic but not confident I'll get one

is there anything else out there in the same league?
must be smallish and preferably vv/vw <20 watts is plenty for me.

or is there anyone who might be able to make something?

I haven't tried it personally, but have you looked at the Axis mod?

have looked at axis and tan
they are a bit big to be honest and not the type of wood I fancy.

i really like the lighter woods native to the uk

Go over to Facebook and search for Floris Delfino.
He makes wooden enclosures, both mechanical and for the DNA board.

im tempted to get as a substitute while I wait for something a little more 'special'

Seems to be no option on the site to choose the light or dark version but I have emailed the guy in the past and he was very quick to respond, just so you know. Also, I'd be interested to hear what it's like, if you do get it.
