Just filled up my Kayfun with my first ever attempt at making my own e liquid. It's a custard mix which as of today has steeped for 8 days. So nice...well enough satisfaction on my part to make me just finish concocting a further 30mls ready for steeping!

Extremely chuffed seeing as I use to part with 12 quid every time I wanted 15ml of Mrs Lord and Co's custard cream. I genuinely prefer mine more and it cost me £5.30 to make 60ml of the stuff! Only around 90p per 10 mls!

If anyone reading this is thinking about dipping their toes into mixing... do it! I only started 8 days ago and I'm already confident that I don't need to buy pre made stuff anymore.

It would only be right of me to finish by saying thanks to those of you who gave me good advice on my recent post about starting to mix - you know who you are ;)

Thanks for reading and get mixing! :)

The custards I mixed last week are going to be steeped for weeks!!

Tanned off my first DIY yesterday, rather satisfying isn't it? 5 more in cupboard and I'll be mixing more tomorrow.

So, what's your recipe for your custard?

I probably should have clarified, when I say my own I mean my own go at mixing but its probably a well known recipe...

16% capella vanilla custard, 3% TPA dulch de leche and 1% Ethyl Maltol. 8 days is all it took to taste nice to me buddy.

Is your recipe a lot more complex? As that might be why but to be honest I wonder whether any recipe should be taking over a month to steep. If its not remotely nice after a couple of weeks surely its the base of what it will taste like a few weeks after that?

Whats your recipe?

I have been mixing my own for about 2 weeks now it is a nice feeling when you are vaping your own mix .
i have a few 10 ml bottles of RY4 / apple pie & cream /strawberry & cream . still trying to get the mix right on my banana cream & vanilla custard :banghead:

well done cm90
its a great feeling aint it when you get a good mix straight off the bat. i havent bought a premade juice since the day i started mixing. a10ml juice costs pennies and i was buying 5 a week from my local b&m.
sounds like you have made the grants clone? i have 200ml steeping now i made that on the 6th.
i do believe in steeping custard the longer the better although quite a few people like it better after a couple of days. the grants i have made smells absolutely gorgeous and its all i can do to put it back in the vape cupboard but ill wait till next month its the first grants i have done.
i like a creamy custard and a very nice one is.
10% custard
8% vanilla
5%cream
im going to have a crack at some space jam flavours tomorrow and see how it goes.
well done and good luck with your next mix.

There are a few Apes on here who, like me are content to vape their custards as early as 24 hours out the mixing bowl.I think mine are so quick to become usable as I don't tend to add "extras" like DDL.I did find a bottle labelled as "G O K" which is a custard+ God Only Knows(mixed the next day after my order of Spicy Biscuit & a Sweet Strawberry arrived)and all I could remember was looking up if such a thing as Ginger Custard existed. It does,so I vaguely recalled mixing a 10 ml of custard+ other concentrates and dated the bottle before shoving it out of sight on a very high shelf. This was last week, and the bottle smells of custard, tastes like a potent RY4 at 90 watts but is now like a custard with too much DDL in,and not enough steeping.Once the battery has lost a little more charge,I might change my mind but ATM it isn't nice enough to warrant racking my remaining working braincell further trying to recall the ingredients.

cm90 Nope my recipies ain't more complex. Just that I've found over the last few months that a steeped custard for me is a tastier custard. I've got 2 bottles of Digby's DMC that I bought last month that won't get opened until end of March. The one I did pop after a week wasn't that impressive to be fair, same with Mrs Lords Custard Cream, far better after a month in the cupboard.

But, I've put 3 of my own blends in the Ultrasonic cleaner for a few blasts and it has hurried things along, so maybe by the Calcutta Cup match I'll open one. I'll doubtlessly need to open one after that!!

As is, I've got a Custard and tobacco, custard and Gingerbread, and a plain Custard with caramel.

Custard and tobacco? that's an interesting one. I think my ventures in the near future are going to be fruity ones, although I am very determined to make a nice coffee and walnut cake e liquid as I haven't seen this in any shops yet. Would be nice to discover a new recipe, but with the sudden boom in DIY'ing and with all the companies, finding a unique flavour now could be difficult!

Yeah bob its the grants clone. Which makes me wonder why people still wait for weeks to order his? Many people have said it tastes exactly the same. Schoolboy error by Grant for leaking the recipe! ahh well bonus for us! :)

To be fair, the Grants recipe was on the web afore it became popular.
Have a look for Ment custard recipe. And joe clay does the most delicious custard, but he won't release the ingredients and I think it involves goat sacrifice under a blood red moon. Damned good tho', I tanned a bottle in one afternoon....

I'm going to be doing a lime tobacco and ones with Pear and Rose, just for shits and giggles this weekend. Green Tea and Jasmine too if my order gets delivered today.

Let us know how your fruits come along, they only need a day or so to settle.
