Rewicking a kanger protank

I love GrimmGreen but that is actually one of the worst Protank recoiling vids I have ever seen!
No disrespect to Grimm but PBusardo`s method is very similar but with a couple of key differences which give much better results as well as being a bit easier.

I followed Phil`s method and have done well over a dozen heads now with a 100% success rate.
I tend to use 3mm silica with 5 wraps (or so) of .20 kanthal on the bottom wick with a second 3mm "flavour" wick on top and all my coils have come out at 1.9- 2.0 ohms.
The way Grimm`s doing it there will often result in the coil touching the inside of the head which will usually give you a short or incorrect ohm`s.
Phil`s vid is based on the EVOD but the heads are basically identical.

Having some difficulties, wrapping the coil too tight on the wick and get some shorts but it gets easier each time. Nail clippers are perfect for trimming wire!

Done 3 up to now and all of them read 0 ohms ? Any ideas guys done exactly as on videos, may have to try a micro coil instead of wrapping round silica,do same method i d on my kayfun, maybe there touching inside or something

Are you sure that you are getting one leg inside(through the middle of) the little rubber insert and one outside? chris991

Yes one inside then on goes the rubber seal ,I'm wonderin if the wires are touching inside

You may have pulled the legs down too tight and inadvertently pulled the coil down a tad far so it's touching in the bottom of the head. You'd be able to see if they were touching the sides.

Did my pro tank2 with a micro coil (2.1 ohms) and used cotton. works like a champ

if you are haviong problems with shorts why not try using the premade resistance/non resistance wires. you can buy them in packs of 50 for a couple of quid. the other advantage is you can select them at various ohms.

Use micro coils in all my PTs. 10 wraps of .32 kanthal on a 2 mm drill bit. Use a needle tip inserted in micro coil to keep it straight in the the cups. Leave it in to keep coil in position while you put the grommet and pin in. I use organic cotton wool for the wick with no flavour wicks on top, just one piece of cotton through the coil. Been using this method for months, just need to change the wick every couple of tanks full after removing old wick and a quick dry burn, a 2 minute job.
