I cant see how I'd make silica work, cotton (unbleached, organic not the stuff made from the woven fibres of the pubes of virgins from Alpha Centauri) is what works for me.

4 x 2mm in a 2x2 formation.

2 strands filling each wick slot.

4 wraps of .25 coming in at 1.6 ohms.

Accies ambrosia.

Lovely.

so this juice control thing: after reading this thread i have seen a few talk about flooding/leaking. i have built this thing once, got a good neat build @1.4 ohms, Japanese cotton. juice control shut off, filled and finished building the atty. opened the juice control about a turn or two and vaped. it vaped quite nicely although throat hit was too much for me, so left it on my table while i went out. got home a couple of hours later to find that half the contents of the tank were now all over my table and box mod!

was i supposed to turn the juice control back off when i finished vaping?

i opened it up and emptied it, and the cotton was still nicely wedged in all four channels. could it have been the pressure generated by screwing the tank up with the juice control closed? then when the control was opened, the pressure drove the juice out?

I've been largely underwhelmed so far tbh, but i don't want to give up on it just yet.
