£8 an hour?

But you can vape all day and you don't have to go outside to do it.

Weirdly had this exact discussion recently.

I think it was @ChrisK who told me a well know vendor with a retail store couldn’t get knowledgeable staff.

I happen to know that said vendor was paying above minimum wage, but not a huge amount.

While I appreciate that retail is not the highest paid industry, if you want staff that know their stuff, you have to pay a wage that will allow them to live.

Apologies for the thread hijack.

Quite right mate.

I don't think enough employers think it through, as in, "well it might be a relatively easy job, but would I want to do it for that pay" and "well I might like that type of job, but would it pay my bills"

Also look at the skills required on this one.
Retail experience.
Customer service experience.
Experienced vaper, familiar with all types of kit.
Barista experience.

Round where I live a guy with good Barista skills alone would be paid at least that.

I know that retail costs can be high, and many businesses are struggling at the moment, but as has been discussed on POTV several times, the attitude / knowledge of staff can make a shop either a "place to go" or "a place to avoid"

Aye, how exactly would you be able to live anywhere on £8 an hour. Mental.

FTFY

"The London Living Wage is currently £10.55 per hour. The UK Living Wage for outside of London is currently £9.00 per hour."

Clearly what they're looking for is an otherwise unemployable young vape nerd, living with his parents, who's going to jump at the chance of working in a vape shop.

How many of us would say it's our dream job if we could afford to live on the wages? I've pretty much given up on my dream job of porn star, so this would be ideal.

And where do they get £10.55 an hour from? That may just cover your rent in the poorer parts of London.

Trust me, it's over-rated.

Eventually you just get sick and tired of cock.
