Satisfaction vs frustration

Hey all,

I would like to share my journey so far if no one minds reading it?

I gave up the ciggies in November (yet again) and jumped back into the world of vaping. About two years ago I decided to stop smoking and try vaping for the first time and bought a kanger Mini protank 2. I managed six months without even one draw of a fag. I found though that vaping on that particular setup wasn’t very satisfying and left me wanting so I got back on the cancer sticks. Fast forward to November 2017 and I started looking into the vape world again. I couldn’t believe how much things had moved on since my last flirtation. I researched for a good couple of weeks on a setup that would keep me off the analogues and noticed that mtl setups were far better and juices for that matter. I also did a lot of lurking on this forum which led me to the Manabush e juice range, for that i’m eternally grateful indeed. I settled on the aspire Zelos kit with the nautilus 2 tank. First week was a real learning curve with that tank but quickly nailed it, no floods and filling it up on the go with no issues. Then I got the bug and quickly decided to get into rebuildables. Again to the internet and did crazy amounts of research and got the vandy vape beserker mini 22ml, some kanthal A1 28g, coil master kit and some cotton bacon. Holy shit did that tank give me a world of grief. I got this tank just before Christmas and I would say it’s just been the last couple of weeks i’m starting to get the wicking right on it consistently. I purposely didn’t buy coils for the naut 2 to make me keep at it as I kept falling back on the nautilus and I wanted the beserker to be my daily tank to help cut cost of constant coil buying and the pitfalls of stock coils.

This brings me to the title of my thread “satisfaction vs frustration” i’ve had a real obsessive journey trying to find a setup, juices and good sources for coils and equipment. I’ve had some real shit packs of coils where I would sometimes only get two good ones from a pack. I then got into other setups because I wanted to try direct lung so I got the aspire Cleito EXO. One good coil from first pack, i’ve Had no luck whatsoever with coils so I bought the Vandy Vape Kylin Mini and some tasty coils from Chris Grimes coils here in Scotland. Onto the next frustrating journey of the Kylin Mini with wicking. Had it a couple of weeks and haven’t got close to getting the wicking right yet. Either no flavour or it vaccum locks and I have to unscrew the top cap to get the tell tale bubbles to show it’s wicking nicely. I have been looking on here and have chipped in yesterday about the wicking of the Kylin Mini and thought I had it nailed but no avail. I never gave up on the beserker but i’m close to calling it a day with the Kylin I have to say. I have jumped right in though as I only started vaping in November and I now have two stock tanks, two rebuildables and two mods never mod the fortunes i’ve Waisted on juices. The conclusion is though that the money i’ve outlayed (especially on juices) would be to serve the end result of juices I like that I can rotate, a good mtl and dtl setup, mtl during the day and dtl at night. I’m getting there and i don’t have any thoughts of getting back on the smokes so onwards and forwards.

Cheers for signing up @Wicking Wonderer - good to have you on here at last! You have gone through, albeit in probably a quicker time, that what we have probably all gone through at some point. Stock coils are an expense you don't need in your life if you want to vape as cheaply as possible so congrats on going down the rebuildable route. They can be fiddly but once you get a set up that works for you then you are sorted - until shinyitis hits you again and you have to try and get the best set up on another sodding tank :D

I know a lot of people have raved about the Berserker but I am not a fan. But then others have been slating the Kayfun Prime and I think it's a superb tank! Same with juices, one man's pot noodle is another man's pop tart. The most important thing is getting a set up that works for you and staying off the smokes for good.

Well done on getting smoke free, be proud of your achievement!

Well done bud, a story we can all relate to, just insert different names of atties and different time scales lol!
The journey is part of the fun and the adventure, yes many moments of frustration but many moments of glimpsing into vape nirvana too! Might take a while to find that sweet spot but it will happen!

Hi. The vaping journey is frustrating and rewarding. Good to hear from you

Hi Wicking Wonderer, what an intro and an interesting honest read.
Welcome to the planet.

Well done on getting smoke free,

Yeah the beserker has it moments but mainly off than on. When the planets align it really is a great tank! Funny you should mention the kayfun as i’m Currently looking st the SXK clone lol, not as gear acquisition syndrome but really just to get a good flavour mtl that’s actually useable consistently. It’s got to be easier than the beserker! I actually rewicked it after my post and it has resulted in a further 2 rewicks as it wasn’t right flavour wise I think a good analogy with the beserker is trying to throw a basket ball backward overhead into a hoop. When you get it in you’re buzzing but the reality is I find myself running back and forward to gather a missed bouncing ball
