Serpent mini muted flavour

I've come to the conclusion that my serpent mini doesn't like my homebrew custard... Ive got a 0.85 ohm Clapton running at around 20 watts.. First tried campfire custard "lovely tasty vapour" it's wicked perfectly and all is good.. Now my regular goto tank is a 3ml aromamizer rdta v1. My adv custard is lovely in that tank.. I filled the serpent mini. Gone thru 2 tanks and the flavour ain't a patch on what I get from the aromamizer. Any tips on a different build to maximise flavour?

Is that one of those pre made Clapton coils that come in the little round tubs? If it is then I'm running the same in my serpent mini but around 29 watts. What guage are the wires in the Clapton you are using?

Have you tried upping the watts? Chances are that you're not putting enough through the build to get a decent vape. Claptons generally require higher power due to the increased amount of metal you are trying to heat.
What wire are you using for your Clapton, as in core gauge , wrap guage and material?

Yeah mate. Ready made claptons. Think it's 0.4 mm core 0.2mm wrap and it's kanthal

Tried upping the watts to no avail. Wicking not keeping up. Getting a definite singed cotton taste.. Think I'll try a straight kanthal build tomorrow

Might be worth putting up a picture of your build, if your wicking isn't keeping up you might either have too much and it's getting choked off or not enough to stay saturated

Agreed, the claptons that come with it really need around 30W to give a decent vape. If you are getting dry hits then definitely worth having another try with the wicking.

Thanks for the responses guys... But as the first post says. It all works fine at 20 watts with the campfire custard a little ramp up but lovely thick tasty vape.. I'm getting plenty of vapour with my homebrew, it's just tasting muted... Got the same coils in my aromamiser dual coiled @40 watts and it's lovely in there too. So im at a loss. I've wicked it with muji "Scottish roll method" not too tight. Might try temp control build tomorrow

Edit : just remembered it came with some twisted comp wire coils.. Will try them tomorrow

The build I do for my mom's serpent mini is a fused Clapton consisting of x2 30g kanthal fused with 38g N80. Do the. Around a 2mm bit, the high gauge, smaller diameter means a nice quick ramp that is friendly to batteries etc, comes out approx 1.4 ohms, she uses at at about 14watts but I've tried it at 25 and it's tasty.

It's quite cool and running at such low Watts means that wicking is a piece o piss.

Little update... Used one of the coils it came with...came out @0.5 ohms wicking keeps up great "bubble every toot". Still the flavour is not a patch on the aromamizer.... Conclusion maybe up the % of flavour just for this tank... Build below
