Hello Guys,

Please excuse me for sounding like a complete noob and asking stupid questions, maybe insulting! ;)

I'm trying to buy a set up for my GF, her smoking habits was around 15 per day. A year ago she switched to ecigs, bought various starter kits, she evolved with the technology, going through the various generations to the atomiser ecig. Now shes back onto a standard £25 over the counter e-lite. Not sure on the size of battery thats in them but at a guess I think its around 250mah which she will need to charge twice per day, but she has a few batteries.

I'm here because theres so much information, perhaps too much, that I'm finding it impossible to weed out the low quality ones and can't find a set up that is worth its weight in wonga. Any hints/tips on a particular set up/kit or DIY solution? ideally looking for durable, quality machine that will last - others have been picked on cost but haven't worked out too well - so if a more expensive machine = more durable and better then it can only be worth it given current experience.

Any help on the matter would be much appreicated.

Hi like you say there are many many kits and setups out there but from my own personal experiance, i quit 2 years ago from smoking 20 a day my first e cig was an elites, this was not very good because it was slightly bigger than a normal cigarette and battery life was poor and throat hit and flavor was poor, so i looked around the internet and found a company called rok universal they had a kit that came with a pcc personal charging case, this ment i could charge the batterys in the case and have enough batterys to last the day, the size of them was also alot better same size as normal cigarettes, the flavor and throat hit was also much better.
I used this kit for several months and in that time learnt that i could also prize the top of the tips and refill them with e liquid, this got me into vanilla and cherry. for me at the time size and have having something that looked and felt like normal cigarettes was important but as time went on i decided to try a larger setup so got myself an ego 650mah battery with ce5 clearomisers, i think i brought a kit for about 25quid from exhale.
This was much better as the batterys lasted all day and the flavor and throat hit was again improved.
I could also refill the ce5's
I then experimented with different ohm coil heads for these and again found that going from 2.5ohm to 1.8ohm improved thing further,
However i did have problems along the way with things like dry burning tastes, leaking etc...
So my next purchase was a chrome lavatube, this again was bigger and again had more features to allow me to adjust the voltage, i also purchased some kanger bcc bottom coil clearmisers, these were a massive improvement over the leaky ce5 style clearomisers, they did not leak also no dry hits, i was very happy.

Then as time progressed the lave tube played up so i brought a evic kit this again was a big improvement i also got vapeonly bcc clearomisers 2.5ml these were much bigger than the old 1.5ml kangers i was using.
And again this was all a big improvement in my vaping experience, better flavor no leaking no dry hits, just the odd guggling sometimes.

Well from then on i experimented with re coiling my own heads and tried aga t and other rebuildable atomizers but found that re coiling was to fiddly for me personally.

After some time with the evic i found that just an 18350 battery tube with a little control head worked just as well, fiddling around with the voltage on the evic was ok but not necessarily that important to me. as i found that as long as the e liquid in the clearomiser was fresh and topped up and the coil head was changed regularly that made more of a difference to the vapour and throat ht that fiddling around with voltage and wattage.
(this is my personal experience, others may be different)

I now use some little mechanical mods, a vision slip and a smok e pipe.
I think as long as you have a good clearomiser or atomiser and a reasonable good battery then you cant go wrong.
I now run a davide aspire bdc bottom duel coil clearomiser these work really well and look good they have a glass tank and are cheap to buy and replacement coil heads are also very cheap.

I will happily use these on my little e-pipe or mechanical mods and vision slip, to be honest they work well on the little ego batterys to especially the mini version.

Hope this helps.

Hi wbryce,

A lot will depend on what your GF would be comfortable using. There is small and discrete, right through to huge and in ya face.
There are a lot of good vendors out there, that sell top notch gear. As well as those that sell tat.
Something like this, http://myepack.co.uk/kits/mini-protank-kit.html is a good setup for small and dainty. I use an 1100mah version for my day time use.
And one of these, in ya face jobs at home. http://myepack.co.uk/mods/itaste-svd.html

I think you might want to post up what vaping gear you have got or tried. Then one of the lovely ladies here, will have an even better idea, of what direction to point you in.

If your GF wants to stick with the cigarette style I would highly recommend the V1P pcc kit from Jacvapour. They do different size mah batteries and their cartomisers are refillable, the personal charger is also very well built and can charge several batteries fully before it needs recharging.

I would also recommend the Evod starter kit from myepack, superb starter kit!

Totally baffling and definitely a minefield of kits available, I have the same confusion myself while looking through unending category's of ever new and updated vaping devices, wish it was simpler myself. Only been at it 16 days now, I have just stuck with the starter type kits, didn't like the cigalikes myself, as I found they tasted really lousy and batteries way too small....Good luck in your search!

Also a newbie. But I got a VE Riva 1100 from www.Vapeescape - great bit of kit -2 batteries included and dead easy to use. The Evod starter also seems good. When I started I bought loads of juices from www.Joosejuice.co.uk - only £1.49 for 10ml samplers so able to try loads of flavours straight away.

The evod clearomiser kit is basically the same technoligy as the kanger that i had with an ego style battery, and the jacvapour kit is basically the same as the rok universal kit i had.
What you would find is that although it seems a minefield of different products with different funky names, they are basically all the same technology, just by different company's and branded differently. i think the Chinese and hong kong patent departments don't exist over there lol plus alot can come from the same manufacture but can be branded with a company's logo.
kanger, vapeonly, evod, all run the same bottom coil setup, ce4 ce5 vivi novas iclear and some others run the top coil with trailing wicks, and aspire models with lots of different types run the newer style duel bottom coil setup. plus everything else in between.
