What's new

Silly question: can I clean a coil when I clean my tank to change juice flavour?

the two main types of rebuildable you will come across are RDA (Rebuildable Dripping Atomizer) these don't have a tank section for liquid, instead liquid is dripped onto the coil and cotton every few draws, or most can be used on squonk mods where the liquid is pumped into the RDA from a bottle inside the mod.

the other is RTA (Rebuildable Tank Atomizer) these do have a glass tank section for liquid more like what you are used to. the diffrence being the coils wich can be pre-build or easy to wrap yourself from wire spool. the coil itself will last months, just the cotton wick will need changing when it gunks up or changing flavours.

after the initial cost (tank, tools, wire/pre built coils, cotton) you will save alot of money not buying stock coils that you can spend on more RTAs or RDAs.

For me if the flavour is a similar profile to the last one then I wouldn't change the coil. If it is completely different then I would. Most of the time I use an RTA though.

You could rinse a stock coil under water and then leave it to dry but as @rew says if the flavour is very different you're probably better off just changing it.

I have put Coils through the Ultrasonic a few times without any problem, if changing liquid i generally remove the Cotton and dry burn the coil again, i don't do this with MTL Coils as much though. You can just remove the Cotton and just rinse it under the tap, let it dry then rewick it. The Ultrasonic does a good job of cleaning Complex coils and they look pretty much new afterwards.

EDIT:- This doesn't apply to Stock Coils.

I've got a bloody great ultrasonic cleaner for removing release agent on my Warhammer models before I paint them so it'll come in handy when my new RTA arrives.

Can anyone recommend good coils and wicks to use with this RTA please: Hellvape Fat Rabbit Solo RTA

I rinsed the coil under the tap today and it worked fine, even got the worst of the flavour out too so that's a bonus.
