Smok alien smoked a little too much!!

Oh dear... Better to get a nitecore charger or something like that to charge batteries anyway and take it with you when going away.
I'm not a fan of the Alien as mine went T1T$ up after 3 months of very light use and i never charged batteries in the mod itself...

Sounds like a defective charging circuit.
The average lighter socket in a car (I might be wrong here) puts out 12v at 10 amps. This way more than most if not all devices need.
Having said that, most if not all devices designed to be charged in this type of way, should only draw from the source what it needs. In the case of the alien I think it's 5v at 1amp, if the charging circuit is faulty (probably was) it may well have received the full 12v at 10 amps and so fried it.
Unfortunately the only way to see if the circuit is faulty, is to plug it in, and then it's to late.

The thing is Smok have always been very cagey about charging via the usb. I remember the alien coming out and the recommended way of charging by smok was external charger. It was actually a reviewer who later mentioned charging by usb. Smok May have changed the manual since those early review's but you will have to read the manual before complaining.

Only if the device is built with a regulator isn't it? Maybe the SMOK isn't and that's why they say not to use it in case people use 2a chargers.

TBH I'm not 100% on the car charger! But it has before been plugged into the car on long journeys before... so not sure why on that day it fried the only difference was it's a dual charger and my phone was also plugged into it!

I brought a nitecore i4 and plugged the so called bad batteries into the charger and they were flat was 100% fully charged at home so what ever happened completely drained both batteries..

The other mod I have brought and remember I was very limited to the shops etc so no choice was a predator 228, after coming away have read its basicly a smok alien!!

Oh well I'm going to try and return to my local vape store where I brought the smok from hopefully I'll get some luck from them.

Lesson learnt tho when going away take a few mods! Spares of everything

Mechs are perfectly safe provided you follow a few basic safety rules and you're not a dribbling idiot.

Regulated have alot more to go wrong, as unfortunately the OP has found out. However they have built in safety features to prevent people making serious errors.

Hey guys I've owned the smok alien for about 4 months and all of a sudden it decided to start reading one of the two batteries inside the alien as dead. And it acts dead about 50% of the time I try to vape. I've got two sets of batteries and no matter what combination I try it still reads one as dead. Plz Help!!!
