Ok this is going to be sort of a review but more of a week in the life of so will add comments as I go along.

So received the smok today (from SmokShop who I chose after speaking with Kevin the owner the other day who is extremely helpful and enthusiastic about vaping and I felt at ease) and opened up the box at 10:50.

First impression was it was slightly smaller than I thought but not much, the body is plastic but it is a hard plastic and one that feels well made, but its true this is a finger print magnet those who have an obsession with wiping prints off may have to leave the thread now!!!

In the box you have a USB lead and english only instruction booklet and the box is extremely sturdy very much like a phone box.

So I powered up and checked battery reading it shows 3.9v on delivery, now I was going to charge and vape from there but figure I will use straight from box until empty then charge and see how we get on.

I am not going to vape on any other device other than the groove for the test period as the reason for purchase was to take away on holiday for a week and not have to worry about constant charging.

By the way it reminds me of a radio and when you look at the battery vents they look like speakers, I wonder if its called the groove for this reason as there are no grooves on the device!!

I grab an evod and attempt to fit....I say attempt as it does not fit the base is too wide for the well, fear not I had done my research and also purchased an ego adapter at the same time as suspected the evod would not fit, this is not a real issue as will probably use. Carto/tank set up when fully up and running for larger liquid capacity.

So fitted evod with adapter and checked resistance hold down the + button and nice oled display not too bright shows 2ohms my provari again having to use adapter also shows 2ohms so thats a good sign.

Right time to take my first toke......hmmm again slight disappointment the vape is very subdued, check the settings ha ha its on 4w that explains it, move on up to 8.5w and fire again the button has a lovely clicky sound and plenty of vape and flavour equal to other devices on 8.5w setting.

It does feel good in the hand and button position on top feels comfortable but jesus its a finger print magnet!!

The menu is simple and I did not refer to the manual (first rule of being a bloke-never look at the manual unless you have tried every possible configuration of button presses)

Power button 5 press is on/off
+ key short tap is power up
- key short tap is power down
+ key long press ohm resistance
- key long press battery volts remaining
+ and - key together switch between power and voltage mode

Going back to wattage from voltage also retained my wattage settings

So will end the first write up there and again will reiterate that I wont use any other device for lets say the whole week, I think that will allow for a reasonable assessment.

I have taken some photos to show configuration, although 15ml kayfun mode is probably a bit extreme!!

Also the phone is a note 2 and not an s3 just in case you thought it was smaller than it was.

Very pleased with first impression out the box.

Ok then first update, been vaping all day no change in my pattern and must say device performs like my other device as you would expect, found it very comfortable and so far enjoying it

So 12 hours on and checking the battery it is reading 3.7v !! That is impressive

Must add the VV is 3 to 6v and VW is 3 to 15w and this device claims to work on 1 ohm resistance but not tried that out yet.

I must add I found it very pocket friendly as well as if it was a phone unlike the bigger ego which can be a bit awkward in the pocket.

But so far so good

Almost forget to add I'm Vaping at 8.5w on a 2ohm resistance which equates to around the 4.1 volt mark to give you an indicator of battery performance and will try and maintain this average to give a fair comparison.

Update for today, vaping away this morning I noticed a distinct lack of vape and taste, checked the battery is states 3.6v so removed atty and cleaned the top of the battery and refitted, it made a noticeable difference, still not overly impressed I changed the evod for a carto with tank and boom back to plumes and flavour, I assume the head is getting tired on my evod.

For the update we are now in the 26th hour from receiving new and using charge as delivered the battery is reading 3.6v.

At this rate and assuming cut off is around the 3.2/3.3v mark it should last till some point tomorrow morning, I will take my charger to work in case it happens then but not looking forward to the 4hour charge time but I set the rules so I will live with them.

Another update

So here we are nearly 31 hours into my week with a groove and things are still looking up battery is now reading 3.5 volt and still going strong.

I am thinking if this thing was surrounded by wood and not plastic and with this performance and battery life this would fly out.

I did say I would try and retain a constant 2ohm head but as the last one slowly died I replaced with a 2.5ohm so any chance of working out a life expectancy against ohm resistance just went out the window, coupled with the fact I have been playing with the wattage and cranking up to 15w.

looks like a walky for sure need a all ss atty on there with a telescopic drip tip to finish the look
