Hi all,

So browsing one of my regular vape buying haunts on interweb other day and came across an old advert for a Stabilised Wood Noisy Cricket, never knew such a thing existed so had a look. Guy selling claimed he had sent the mod away to a company who had swapped all the guts over into a stab wood body. Has anyone heard of such a thing? An old advert so no other details.

This is something that I'm tempted by, not particulary particularly for a noisy cricket but maybe something else. I like unique pieces but also a creature of habit. I like the Asmodus Komada but Mrs may kill me spending that sort of money!

Something about that doesnt look right, My guess would be thats a Stab wood sleeve around the mod - especially as the Noisy cricket doesn't really have any internals - it's s mech, basically a solid metal body with a Hybrid adaptor top cap and a switch...

Now you mention it, that looks like it could be the case, the RDA is sat quite a distance from the edge, I realise stab wood is thicker than the metal but still seems too big of a gap to me.

He was only asking £40 for it with charger, batteries and juice so makes more sense it's a sleeve. To be honest, I never even realised stab wood sleeves were a thing!

There's not many mods could take a sleeve - mostly it's for tube mods...

Pass there. I like metal tubes, have a brass and sterling silver plated at minute, would never consider a sleeve for those.

Looks like I'll wait until I can convince Mrs a stab wood mod is a good investment as opposed to a pretty toy for me... Will be worth a chat with one of the fine people on here who are skilled in making stab wood mods one day.

I think rockmodz did something similar a while a ago, putting a stab wood coat/sleeve on the noisy cricket

you can get a stick on 3m stab wood sleeve I have seen theses, one was at expo from the states it looked good

I think some mods would take nicely to making a stabwood body but not many

I've got an old smok that could easily have the internals swapped as it's basically a sleeve with top and bottom plates, and uses a removable slide bar ( similar to the alien but not spring loaded it's on rails, but others would be very hard
A hybrid series mech would be pretty easy though, since it's just two tubes a copper strip and a top cap
