What's new

stabwood block progression shot "camellia"

= That's more a pastiche of the Abstract Expressionist painter Jackson Pollock.

Done by one of the band members it seems.
Absolutely. Squire was heavily influenced by Pollock amongst others. As well as being a top axeman he is a very accomplished artist himself. There are a lot of Pollockesque covers, decorated guitars etc that have been created by Squire. One might say it's his signature style.

And a not so hidden reference in Going Down

"There she looks like a painting
Jackson Pollock's No. 5
Come into the forest and taste the trees
The Sun starts shining, and I'm hard to please
Ring-a-ding-ding-ding, I'm going down
I'm coming 'round"

I was listening to Napalm Death, Carcass and Godflesh when the Stone Roses were around, so know little of this. I know a good deal about Abstract Expressionism though.
