Steeping Question

I 90% of the time only buy bottle shots, so I add my nic then shake, I then add my PG & VG. And replace cap and give it a good old shake and place it in the bottom of my wardrobe to steep. Fruits anywhere between 2 to 3 days and custards and creams upto 6 months. The only time I crack them open is to have a sniff when they arrive.

I am talking about a Fresh Bottle unopened that you have bought from a shop or vendor, not opened to add nicotine. Is it steeping if it's a new bottle. Go to a vendor and it's on the shelf, is it classed as steeping lol.

good question.
in a way, yes. you see vendors mention pre steeped and thats without nicotine so yes once its been mixed and sits on a shelf for weeks months i guess it is steeping in a way and then i guess once youve added the nic it needs more time to steep as well but maybe not as long. also it shouldnt change colour before youve added the nic unless its been sitting there for a year or two.

make and seal my diy's and leave in the cool and dark for a week - almost exclusively fruits, exposing to air oxidises it and loses flavour, that's how we can smell it. everyone has their own wee ways in this it seems, whatever works for you, is the best way methinks.

Does he say if it has nic in it or not as I read its the nic that helps with steeping. so if no nic then how does it steep its just flavour with pg vg in it

I look at steeping as giving the ingredients time to mix thoroughly as most DL juices contain a lot of fairly thick VG. I consider all pre-made stuff to be steeped by the time you actually get your hands on it.

Steeping it again for a few days after adding nic just gives the nic time to thoroughly blend with the rest IMO, but for some reason fruit flavours seem to blend really fast is you're just adding a nic shot or two, while custard flavours seem to take a longer steep to become smooth to vape - so my logic may have holes in it lol

it can only “steep” if it has freebase nic in it. there have been many discussions about this on here, you’ll find some interesting threads if you use the search.

:hmm:

taken from our own prime vapes.
This flavour has been pre steeped, given its profile we would recommend steeping for a further 2 weeks after adding your nicotine shot to really bring out that awesome custard flavour.

exactly, you need to leave it after you add the nic. otherwise it’s not steeped. have a look in the search, there are threads where some of us did experiments observing colour changes etc. with varying nic strengths, freebase, salt. you’ll even find scientific papers about nicotyrine and theories about how even the effects of the nic in “steeped” liquid are different.
