Steeping Question

exactly, you need to leave it after you add the nic. otherwise it’s not steeped. have a look in the search, there are threads where some of us did experiments observing colour changes etc. with varying nic strengths, freebase, salt. you’ll even find scientific papers about nicotyrine and theories about how even the effects of the nic in “steeped” liquid are different.
Why do vape concentrates change colour in their unused original form, surely that's due to some sort of steeping/ ageing process?

it oxidises as it sits in the bottle. i’ve never noticed it affecting how it tastes once you mix it. do you think it does?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no, not much help there then :18: Overall, long steeps over no steeping at all, there is always a taste difference, regardless of nic %. Beyond baccy and custards, the one I notice that changes the most and the only fruit I really bother with much, is Mango, almost always 50/50 mtl stuff.

I know this question has probably be asked a thousand times but a friend i got off the smokes and into vaping and who might be joining POTV asked me to ask this specific question. How do you actually steep liquid. I told him the way i did it and he seemed shocked. I always crack the bottle open then allow it steep time. He has been buying liquid and putting it in his cupboard to steep without breaking the seal. I told him that was wrong but he insists that he was told by the shop to do this. I said if you buy a bottle of liquid and it's sealed it stays the same clarity (Clear) but if you crack the seal you see changes to the liquid colour due too it's reaction to air. I might be wrong but it's the way i have always done it. How do you guys Steep.

no need to crack it open, will actually tone the overall flavour down if its left open mate

I don't understand this steeping lark then. You buy a bottle of liquid which obviously has been stored at the supplier for god knows how long, for example a Custard Liquid. yet they recommend you steep it for 2 or 3 weeks. Surely if it's been stood already it's been steeped already.

If it is a sealed bottle containing nic, it might have just been bottled, so the extra time will be needed. If adding nic, you can steep for as long as you think is needed.

But it wasn't steeped with nicotine in it - once you add another ingredient to a custard it will benefit from an extra steep to allow the extra ingredient to blend in.

What I don't understand is why custards will benefit a lot from an additional steep when you add nicotine, but fruits seem ready to go after adding nic (although I think they benefit from being left for a few days they still seem pretty good if you vape them immediately afterwards.)

So technically the Steep period is for after you have added Nicotine. So in theory i could buy a Custard and vape straight away if i wasn't adding Nicotine.

I would still leave it for a month, as you don'r know when it was bottled.
