Righty then, i havn't heard anybody mention this little detail on the planet. A small thing but it helped me in my coil building.

Striking the coils ! Somebody tell me i'm not the only one to do this & that it just keeps getting forgotten. :hmm:

Please define the term "Striking", cause if you're hitting your coils I'm gonna report you for Coil abuse. :eeek:

Think of the coils!, for pity's sake think of the coils!!!! dq.jpg

Haha, no dude it's not a headbutt situation or jib below the belt, no baseball bats or knuckle dusters, not even a big black rubber dildo ! Keep guessing.
What do you strike it with?

I just swear at mine or at least give it a stern looking face

Are you on about that highly toxic spray that prevents coils from corroding ??

Well normally the term to strike can be used in multiple roles, as in Strike a cutting in gardening, Strike camp as in to make or break camp, Strike the flag as in lowering the flag, strike an arc as in manual arc welding, and of course all the variants implying impacts or attacks of some kind or the witholding of work or services. So my guess would be you are reffering obliquely to test firing the coil...

'test firing the coil' - na tubs, he can't mean that...too simple. On the other hand, maybe you're right. ;)

Alright i'll tell !

Explanation will make it easier to convey (He said in a language which surpassed his own IQ)

Right. You have a dual micro coil built then, all screws tightened down & there you are with the tweezers just evening up the gaps & getting the glow good & glowy.
The coils are both glowing & when they do they both look tight with no gaps but one is still heating faster than the other.
Normally i just give the offending coil & extra tweak even though it's already ok, just slower, but i can get into a little unwanted rhythm where i keep going from one side to the other & it's tedious & sometimes i can over compress the coils.

Strike the offending slow coil ! Flat end tweezers or the like, make contact with the coil leg at the screw end & with hardly any pressure strike like match lightly. Maybe repeat on the other coil leg & then fire the mod again.... Friggin magic i tell ya !
You can also just gently scratch back & forth a couple of times..... Brilliaaaaannnnnntttt !!!!!

I'm not insane (Self uncertified) It's a simple little tip/trick & it works.

If it doesn't then you can really lay the boot in.
