Hi Guys,
Would just like to vent my frustration "Peed Off" an understatement!!

I started using vaping to 'stop smoking' last July 11th.... Only had 1 Cig the morning after I bought the ecig and 1 cigar on New Years Eve since.

I only got an eCig after weeks & weeks of pressure from my 12 year old daughter ("I don't want you to die!!", 50 times a day every Saturday when I have access eventually kicks in!!)

After having been a smoker since I was 11 years old (now 50) and having smoked up to 80 fags a day and smoking roll ups for the last 15 years I was amazed I managed it...

One thing that DID help, and I say 'DID" very much in the past tense is that I was allowed to vape quietly and discreetly in my local whilst enjoying a quiet pint...

Well last week it seems some "Guys" were in the pub, Low / sub Ohming as I understand it is called and producing massive clouds of vape mist / smoke.... and guess what!!!!! yes you can guess........ its NOW BEEN BANNED !!!!...

NO MORE VAPING IN THE PUB.. :-((

I know these guys, well 2 of them, in fact it was me who sent them some months ago to a local vape shop (wont name the shop) to get a vape pen, me selling the benfits and how I had managed to stop smoking. But it has all now backfired on me and after a couple of months Vaping to them has now become some sort of "Hobby"... not a way to stop smoking as they are now spending hundreds of pounds on exotic batteries, self coiling systems, exotic and expensive vape juices and are now billowing massive clouds of vape smoke everywhere they go!!!

As I said "Peed off" is an understatement.......

BUT.... I HAVE TO ADD........ It is not all their fault is it !!!! A lot has to be said for the Vape shop and what they are selling !!!

Is this (VAPING) a way to stop smoking or is it some new geeky hobby for people who have nothing better to do than compare battery sizes, Mah ratings, how many bottles of juice they have dripped in the last week etc etc etc......

When I was a smoking I NEVER chatted with other smokers about how many fags I had last week, how much nicotine was in my current brand of baccy!!!!

Maybe it's me just being an old smoker (well 50!) ..... and not a Hip Vaper.... I Don't know..

I have been back to the same shop a couple of times since, yesterday was the last time!! and its now no longer as it was... it now has a Vaping evening with free beer!!!
There is even a cabinet with a lizard in, a customized scooter and it seems some back room for "Invited Guests ONLY" !!!
Unless you are buying some hi tech & complicated battery for £700 and spend hours each week winding your own coils you are "Not in the Click"... a sub quality customer!!
The prices have all gone up on the juices, they have little stock (if any) of the basic things and seem to have just cabinets full of "Very" expensive what seem to me to just be gadgets!!!
The staff in there (well certainly the one yesterday) look down on you when you ask basic questions, and if you are not prepared to buy and build your own coil systems and be a "Dripper" and spend a fortune then you are not the "Type" of customer they like!!!!

I will say again, I just wanted to stop smoking and (the reason why I joined this and other forums) understand if Vaping was safe and would not kill me faster than smoking....

Now don't get me wrong, I am an electronics engineer and IF I wanted could build coils, battery systems, modify PCB's to increase driver voltage etc etc... but I don't want to..... I just wanted to stop smoking and was happy being able to Vape in my local with a pint of beer, which meant I was NOT in the smoking shelter being tempted by fags....

Am I in the wrong!? I don't feel I am!

OK, so Rant over, but has anyone else had this type of problem or feel the same?

Just hoping I am not on my own!

I can see both sides :) I mean I understand the hobby attraction of the shiny tubes and coil building but I decided not to go there and am keeping things fairly basic - I limit my experiments (DIY juices) to the confines of my home. I'm sure there's plenty of considerate vapers who happily blow huge clouds at home but show some restraint when they're at places like the pub. There will always unfortunately be a minority of inconsiderate morons, who will always be just that but who will probably end up pretty much ruining things for the vaping community as a whole.

Pretty much this.

I am a hobbyist but not a cloud chaser. The two are not mutually exclusive, but I do get what you mean.

We are lucky in that we have a number of pubs where vaping is allowed, but it only takes one person/group to spoil it.

Clouds have a time and a place, but simple respect for your location and those around you should be the key at all times.

I would have to disagree on the shop in question as I often frequent it and have stood chatting to the staff for quite a long times on several occasions as they showed customer after customer how to work starter kit ce4's and answer question that have nothing to do with the hobby side of things - that is the backbone of their business

I get where you're coming from completely. I was thinking these places should have a sign that says 'considerate vaping allowed, no clouds' but then I was like, fuck it, why should people have to be told?

It's the minority of a minority screwing it up for everyone.

My local is/was happy with vaping, provided that it/was done with discretion, I've been vaping in there for the last year without any problems but someone i took in with me one night decided it was ok to subohm his dripper clouding out the corner where we were sitting....looks of astonishment from those sitting around the area were soon followed with complaints from customers about "passive smoking" from "those people"

To cut a long story short it's still allowed but frowned apon...no strong smelling juices, and no plumes of vapour Its still better than no vaping I suppose, but it means I cant vape my favourite juices as they tend to be strong smelling....:(

People shouldn't have to be told, only dickheads I'm afraid. I'm a sub ohm cloud chaser. BUT. If I visit a place that allows vaping, and I have a cloud chasing set up with me, I only take small toots so I do not put clouds out and spoil it for other vapers. I only cloud chase in private and for my own enjoyment. Guys who go in bars/pubs etc that allows vaping, and blow big fuck off clouds, have little fucking dicks.

But it seem to me that all cloud chasers are being tarred with the same fucking brush.

I'll take two rigs with me on a night out. A mech with a kayfun for if I can vape inside, and a big fuck off dripper for when I'm banished to the smoking area. As much as I like clouds (not so much for the show off aspect, there's a whole different 'feel' when inhaling and exhaling a huge one), I wouldn't expect non smokers in a pub (or anywhere) to be OK with it.
So yes, this sometime cloud chaser agrees with you wholeheartedly

I totally agree with your post. Unfortunately all hobbies and pastimes generate a twat element, whether they are car twats, video games twats, fishing twats etc. now we have vaping twats.

If you know the shop I mean then in that case I Think it may not be "all" of the members of staff!!...

Though I have to say it has been the same one who has been there the last couple of times I have been in...... the phrase 'Chips on shoulders" comes to mind!!

There used to be another guy in there who was OK, think he may have been the owner (clearly has an interest in the business as I over heard him on the phone, over some legal issues on having to change the shops name), but I think they have more shops now and he does not seem to ever be there...
He was helpful to me some months ago, my observations were based on 'NOW', how things have changed...

When I first went there, the "Best Thing" on the market, or so I was told was the Kangertech EMOW kit which they sold me.....
I recently found out (after I had recommended that same thing to someone in the pub as a good starter kit) that they had told them it was old hat, and have had lots of problems with it and subsequently sold them something much more expensive that is now sitting on a shelf as they could not work it, was too expensive with the cost of the juices they were getting through and have gone back to smoking fags!!

This was in no way however meant to be a "Shop Bashing" post... just my observations on how fast things have changed in a little over 6 months, and how if it is considered (Vaping) to be a suitable alternative to help you 'Stop Smoking' that to my mind it is very quickly drifting away from that....
