Hi guys

Ok, bought a taifun gt this week and had a quick play, haven't filled yet, I just wanted too see what the hype is about since up till now I've been firmly on the kayfun side of the fence.

Few quick questions, since the wick comes out of the gates almost halfway up the tank, when my juice geta below the level of the wicks, I'm guessing I have to tilt n rotate to wick up some juice?

Also, when I wicked and assembled, it went together fine, when I undone the tank, the gate portion rotated with the tank which in turn made the wicks pull back inside as they rotated too, if this makes sense, will this not happen when filled with juice?

And last, I followed a build on you tube where I trimmed the wicks to a mm or so protruding the gates, similar to a evod coil and wick on steroids, too avoid the issue in question 1 could I leave the wick protruding about 10mm and tuck them down to help wick up from lower in the tank or is this not really necessary?

Cheers folks

Hi Dagger,
Although the wick isn't right at the bottom, there isn't a lot of juice in the tank due to the the width of the inner deck cover. The wicks should catch all but a few 10th of a ml at most (probably less as I'm guessing you're not gonna vape it in an upright position)

The "gate portion" shouldn't rotate unless your wick is jamming against the outside wall and dragging this section. Maybe the o-ring on this "gate portion" needs changing. Or your wick is too big :)

Not necessary, a few mms should suffice

Top Tip: microcoil and cotton for this atty works GREAT!

All the very best and happy vaping.

Thanks for the info guys Blackhack cheers mate. I'll have a read up. Audiopsyence the wicks aren't touching the tank, it looked as if the small o ring on the bottom of the top caps chimney was dragging the gate section with it when I undid the tank. I'm assuming this was because it was a dry empty tank with no juice to lube it all up?

And yeah, its all ready too go with cotton and microcoil, will fill up in a sec and then I'll know if I'm still firmly on the kayfun side of the fence or not!

I always lube the oring on the chimmey that comes down from the top cap to prevent the twisting
I use cotton yarn (4 strands) or silica (2 strands) and leave one strand each side extra long so that
it touches the bottom of the tank.

I had a go at using SS mesh not to long ago. Definitely improves the flavour if your toking on tobacco
flavoured juice.

BTW do you have the clone or genuine Taifun ? Both my clones started leaking because the oring on the chimmey
some how shrunk ... dont ask me how. I replaced the orings with fatter ones that definitely need lubing up.
No such problems with my genuine one :2thumbsup:

Cheers for the reply.
I'm guessing clone, 20quid from the classies.
I'll stick to the bog standard cotton cut close too the gates for my first build before tinkering but like the idea of the wicks touching the bottom of the tank, out of interest where do you get your cotton yarn?

Nice one Danny K some good tips in there.
Ok so I've finally got round to wicking and filling, I used the fold back technique in the thread danny linked.

Its vaping fine, lots of vapour and flavour. Not sure on it yet though.
I think I prefer the flavour from my kayfuns. I do like the draw from the taifun though.

So far for me, pro's, easy to build, nice draw, don't have to drain tank to get at wick n coil.

Con's, prefer the flavour from my kayfuns, prefer the look of the kayfun, hate the fact its a weird diameter and doesn't sit flush on anything I own!

I'll give it a week and see if it can win me over

Dont remember the actual seller but I found them on Etsy.com

Ok nearly finished my first tank through it.

Its growing on me a little, have had a dry hit or two last night when I was vaping hard with a bevvie, more than likely wasn't wicking fast enough as when I put it down for 5 mins it was fine. Before I refill the tank I'm going to rewick it but this time without the fold back and see how that gets on
