Just bought a load from Darkstar. Taking advantage of the 35% off. Anyone used them? Any pointers to mixing %?

So. Might be talking to myself...but...

I've just received these. I bought RY4, Turkish, Western and Tobacco.

Just mixed up RY4 and Western: 60/40, 9mg, @15%

Western:

Literally 5 minutes since I mixed it, but really liking it. Very slightly sweet, very slightly floral. Background note of a freshly opened packet of Golden Virginia. Using it on mesh, sitting next to my better half smoking real GV, definitely a tobacco-like experience...

More to follow...

Tobacco's tend to improve with a steep.

Never tried TFA, only a local shop really and they certainly 'intensify' etc. after a week or more.

Yeah, got to try them though...

RY4:

Same proportions: 9mg, 60/40, @15%

WTF! Pure clove oil! I've never tried RY4. I was expecting tobacco, vanilla and caramel. This is like clove oil. Even leaves a slight warming feeling on the lips. TPA's site says:

This is one variation on an RY4 flavor, we also have two others so we recommend getting the small size to see if it is right for you!

There is a slight floral note in this blend that is missing from the other RY4 versions we carry some customers really want this note, others don't.

This isn't a floral note, this is astringent spice. Mixed some at 7.5%. It's better. Zero tobacco, slight, non-descript sweetness. No vanilla, no caramel.

Am I expecting the wrong flavour? Is there an RY4 'twang' and this is designed to be added to recipes to give that 'twang'?

It's growing on me, might be my expectations. Still reminds me of Gudang Garam

[Edit]

Addition of 2% Cheesecake works well...really well

I've had loads of different ry4's and they are all different. Currently on TPA RY4 Double, that's nice when mixed with creams.

Just made up some Tobacco and Turkish. After my previous experience, I started at 5%. Same 40/60 mix, 9mg.

Tobacco:

Tastes overwhelmingly of the synthetic rose flavour you get in cheap Turkish delight. Not nice. Not a hint of a tobacco note.

Turkish:

Tastes of the smell you get walking into a shop that sells a lit of different varieties of incense. Again, zero tobacco.

Overall not impressed at all. Glad I got them at discount prices. Can't even see me adding small amounts for notes. New respect for BestCigLiquid
