Well I had some time last night and thought id do a bit of a test.

I've taken 6 x 3ml bottles and made up 6 different mixes of the flavour apprentice vanilla custard.

A - 100% vg @ 10% flavour
B - 100% vg @ 20% flavour
C - 80%vg 20%pg @ 10% flavour
D - 80%vg 20%pg @ 20% flavour
E - 50%vg 50%pg @ 10% flavour
F - 50%vg 50%pg @ 20% flavour

I know that 20% flavour is probably too much, but I want to taste how much is "too much" so I know the difference.
My goal is to find the mix I like best and I felt that this was the quickest way to do it. It was a bit of work and I little bit tricky measuring out .5ml measures, but I think it will be worth it.

I'll post back here with a little write up on each of the mixes in case anyone finds it useful.

I'd be intrigued to know how you get on, i tried this concentrate at 10% and had a somewhat peppery taste to it, don't know if i had a bad batch or what, i know my nic is good though :)

The smell from the bottle was fantastic though, so if you don't get the pepperyness like i did i might try another bottle, cheaper than capella by a long shot :D

Ill let you know. I did buy the Capella as well. For the amount that I vape I won't really notice the difference in the price. But yes, the Capella costs about 30% more than TFA. They do smell totally different? Just smelling the concentrates TFA smells much more like a runny French custard, like the normal vanilla custards you often get with eliquid. But the Capella smells much more like a thick luxurious clotted cream, Devon, ambrosia thick custard.

I'm going to do the same test with the Capella next week.
If the Capella is stronger and I end up needing 30% less concentrate than the flavour apprentice then they will be the same price.

I bought way too much stuff so if you want to try anything I can send a sample.

I have subscribed to this thread in anticipation :)

This explains a lot.

The popularity of Capella and Grant's has always been a mystery to me because they taste like cheap packet custard. The addition of Dulce De Leche to Grant's makes it even worse.

Obviously every juice tastes different to all of us - fortunately I have found one that tastes like your description.

I've stopped adding the DDL, makes it taste somewhat soapy and harsh i find, instead i add TFA Malted Milk and seems to tone it down nicely.

10% CVC
5% Malted Milk

Yes, I use malted milk in mine.

same as BD1 , I've stopped using DDL. I find it an ok addition if you vape your mixes pretty fresh, but it doesn't half over power things when your juice has aged a bit.
My go to custard addition these days is vanilla bean ice cream, but we all have our own ideas and no two are the same.

The results.....

Each of these were tested on a little boy clone with a mech mod with a fresh 18350 battery and a 2.0ohm coil. Because this is my standard vaping set up I didn't see the point in testing it on something I don't always use.
This lot has been steeped for 6 nights and shaken twice a day.

Just bear in mind that the concentrate is pg based, so when I'm saying 100% VG, it's actually more like 80-90, the 80% is more like 70% and the 50% is more like 40%.

A - 100% vg @10% flavour
A very very nice smooth vape. Very light flavour but pleasant. 6/10

B - 100% vg @ 20% flavour
Similar to A in the Vape, but slightly less smooth. Slightly bitter flavour. Same amout of flavour as A which is strange as there is twice as much. 4/10

C - 80/20 mix @ 10% flavour
Very very nice. Good flavour and sweetness. This was the only version I could taste proper vanilla custard. Very comparable to the vanilla custard that "Taste" make. 7/10

D - 80/20mix @20% flavour
Similar to C but slightly bitter in flavour. I didn't get as much taste of sweetness. 4/10

E - 50/50mix @ 10% flavour
Disaster. Really chemical taste. Some vanilla coming through but no custard. Not creamy at all. 3/10

F - 50/50mix @ 20% flavour.
Worse than E. More chemical, less flavour.

Results.
Authors I scored the 80/20mix with 10% flavour the best, it did lack the smoothness of the 100% vg juice. So the result of this test is actually a 30ml bottle of 90/10 mix with 7.5% flavour. After two weeks I'll test it and maybe add the extra 2.5% flavour.

I was quite interested to find that the juices with half as much flavour concentrate actually tasted like they had better flavour. The ones with more concentrate tasted bitter.

It was a valuable lesson and I can really see where I've gone wrong in the past.

Next up I'm doing the same test with capella v2.
But this time the spectrum will be slightly different.
I'll be doing the following...

A- 90/10 @ 5%
B- 90/10 @7.5%
C- 90/10 @10%
D - 90/10 @12.5%
