The Petar Kay method help

OK so I am trying this , but when I get the oxidizing bit with the wick on, the top wire burns through! Tried it 4 times same thing, what am I doing wrong????

ok not sure what the peter kay method is but, this was the problem i had with the genisis style attys. It took me a bloody age to get it right but from what i could tell it was due to coiling the wire too tightly around the mesh, thus "unoxidizing" the mesh. I wound the wire "less tight" and after adjustments it seemed to work.
