They had another piece this morning on ecigs on the back of a statement that 20% of young US smokers used ecigs first and then switched to tobacco (something I maintain is either fudged statistics or utter bullshit). The debate questioned the ban on vaping indoors as well as normalising smoking and I have to say that it was pretty much a whitewash of support from the panel, Mr Wright himself and the callers.

No-one was able to challenge the 20% statistic though which was a real shame and I think had we had any counter stats offered it would have made a big difference too. A few of the panel did mention that loads of their friends use them and they have never seen a 'young person' using one.

All in all a very positive piece and not just another attempt to jump on the ecigs should be banned bandwagon

i watched it too and liked the blonde lass who said it was due to them not being able to make any money from them etc....dominic didnt do any homework so looked poor but on the whole i saw it wasnt too bad, the figures of 20% makes me wonder if they only asked 10 people as the welsh guy said 2 in 10 ;)

I watched it too and for the most part it was positive for a change. Sense at last.

We have to remember that only a year ago (probably less infact) the forum was up in arms that the media were doing 'ecigs are fad' type programs and the Wright Stuff at the time did one that ended up fairly well balanced but still came into the situation from an ignorant angle. To see prime time shows like this even pushing the subject as a positive from the get go is a real win in my view - hearts and minds of the public is where we will win the overall war by distancing what we choose to do from the dangers of smoking to them.
