When I moved to sub ohm tanks and lung hitting I had no choice but to drop my nic and PG. Now I do all my mixes at 2mg and 80vg..

Since moving to temp control, the flavour is still really good... but I seem to be loosing the throat hit, do I need to up my nic / PG or something else?

I guess the vapour is just not as hot, I'm running around 450-490, anything above that and I get a slight burnt taste (using the xcube 2, crown and NiFe30)

I'm just wondering if anyone else has had the same experience.

It could be that, I've no problems with throat hit but I don't like harsh vapes anyway, Bump your nic to 3 or 4% see what happens...

I always discounted the effect of higher PG juices with MTL tanks, slightly higher nicotine being far more effective.

But I've found that with sub-ohm tanks, where you're looking for a "stream" rather than a "hit", the irritation caused by PG on the throat is very satisfying, especially with the first vape of the day.

Experiment till you find a nic level that doesn't make your head spin, and if that's not enough try increasing your PG by 10% and see if that helps.

Indeed, it's that drive to work where I need a throat hit !!

I'll up my PG by 10% and see if that helps, should also help carry the flavour a bit more.

On another note, my Xcube 2 seems to give a burnt taste over 500 degrees, I was under the impression this would not happen?

I don't know much about TC but my understanding is it will stop when it reaches the preset temperature, it can't detect burning coils. If your wick can't carry the liquid quickly enough it will still burn.

I also use 2mg in sub-ohm tanks, but, even at 600 degrees I'm not getting a satisfactory vape. Non TC coils in the same tank give a bigger hit at 60 watts.

@Clownstyle, the xcube can be a little temperamental but tbh a lot of it is juice dependent. One of the exiciting ideas of TC was juice companies could test their juices and give recommendations for temp ranges. Still dint really know the optimal temp to run at and Vendors haven't really run with this. 500f is quite warm really although the accuracy of that temp is a bit iffy even with fancier devices so I'm sure it could be hotter than that even. I typically run between 400-440f and find any higher I do get a burning/caramel taste seeping through. If it happens turn down the temp.

if upping the PG doesn't help you could try adding a little Vodka to your mix.... not sure on the % though

Threw a 26g kanthal build in and the crown is just so much better, richness of flavour, vapor production, throat hit. May be something to do with the wicking not keeping up as the TC seems to work a lot better on my velocity.

Hopefully I will get my aromamizer soon so I can test a TC build in that.
