Time to rebuild?

In the past week my protank and an evod have both dumped out on me. What causes this and will a simple rebuild fix it?

just age , coils dont last forever , they get gunked up with juice , the wicks become gunked up too , and they just burn out .

evods and protanks use the same head , and they are super easy to rebuild , and as a result super cheap. there is a fantastic thread on how to do this on the forums , http://www.planetofthevapes.co.uk/f...nk-and-evod-rebuilding?highlight=rebuild+evod
when you try it , you will actually get pretty peed off , because of how cheap and easy it is to do , yet they charge £2.50 a head i you buy them.
Whistler is the guy who did the tutorial ive linked you to , hes done a fantastic job of keeping it simple. and illustrates each step well with photos.

Yep, build your own is the way forword I've saved s##t loads and only takes 5 or so mins once you get the hang of it

ofcourse. if you take the wick out your left with a direct hole through the centre post.

with the evod head you have a plastic stopper that sits over the two wickholes. the condenses the wick so that only liquid pulled through by the heat of the coil can pass through.
its not so much leaking if your wick is old , its the taste because if you wick is gunked up with old juice , its gonna burn. itll reduce the flow of new juice and generally tastes aweful

you know when your wicks gone not because it leaks as such , but because it tastes crap and youll get dry hits.

So I recoiled the protank and it still leaks BADLY. What have I done wrong? Liquid coming up through drip tip and leaking out base. Is the rubber cap supposed to close off the bottom of the airway?

Hi Bob, in my experience with the Protank it helps if you add a couple of wick lengths on top of your coiled wick, especially if you have used a smaller diameter wick. Pull off the top and add a couple of 10mm lengths and the leaking should stop. Good luck.

i think he means 1mm not 10mm but yeh tht stopper should be pushed down pretty securely.

ive not had liquid up the centre post before on mine. actually i havnt had leaking at all.

your not getting juice down the centre post when you fill it are you?

is the head screwed down tight? the wicks should sit inside the cut out part not on top . i cant explain very well as i dont have one infront of me.

Depends what diameter of wick you used, Bob.

I tried 1.5mm for the wick and added one more on top without a coil as a flavour wick but that deteriorated pretty quickly. I find that the two 2.0mm silica wicks now quite well but you may find it gurgles as it gets low still - just keep it topped up.
