To Clone or not to Clone?

I have only being doing my own coils and using rebuildables during the past three weeks or so. Starting off with the Kanger Subtank and then moving onto a Kayfun Lite Clone and also a Kayfun 4 Clone.

I have found the Kayfun 4 clone awful to work with, to the extent it is now residing in a land fill site somewhere, due to the chimney continually getting stuck fast on to the deck. Now with the Subtank I have really improved my coil building and as such have had some superb vapes as a result. My latest being a .8ohm coil using 26 Gauge Kanthal, which I have vaped at 55 watts on my Sig 150, producing superb vapor and intense flavour.

Likewise the Kayfun Lite Clone has been quite good, although harder to place the coils due to the smaller size.

However, I would like to continue on the rebuildable path and want to know is it really worth shelling out a lot of cash for a legit genuine rebuildable tank, or take the gamble with a clone.

The concept of the Kayfun 4 is superb, but alas my clone was unqworkable due to the chimney. Would an authentic one have that same problem as I encountered?

Lets not go thro' the whole clone vs Authentic - again.

If you look thro' the forum you'll find recommendations on how to build the kayfun and where you can get a decent clone.

I prefer a Fogger V4.1 tankwise, had a kayfun and after one decent build it leaked and to be fair the airflow wasn't as good as hyped.
@M-vapes and @Angelfiremods are good places to look at for good kit.

May I also recommend you look into the Mutation X and Mephisto drippers...

Thanks for the info will take a look. I have no problem shelling out for a authentic tank if it is worth the money.

Some authentic devices are actually worse than the clones, take the plume veil 1.5 as an example every review I saw of the authentic slates the build quality of it the terrible machining etc but every clone review is the opposite... Buy a clone get it cheap if you like it splash out on a authentic... All this authentic v clone talk is pretty boring. The only reason clones exist is because the price of authentic kit is getting ridiculous. Let's say you bought a authentic marquis for $120 then got it sent here you would probably shell out another £30-£50 to get it through customs when it's $12.15 to buy a clone from fastech and no customs charges

Nobody can make a value for money judgement on this on your behalf. It's your money and your estimation of worth.
I could offer an opinion, but what's it worth? About the same as anybody else's ... your own opinion, once formed, is the one that counts.

Wouldn't get into the whole clone war debate as its done to death on various forums (I personally use and buy both, have pretty much a monthly subscription to FastTech and couldn't give a toss either way about clone/non clone), but a good start would be to get a few clones to build on and see if it is right for you as it won't cost you much upfront and you can practice on a few mods and see if building is right for you without much initial outlay financially. The whole moral aspect of clone purchasing is down to you really.

So basically it is subjective. I guess then I'll stick with clones.

Just to add. I wasn't trying to resurrect a clone war debate. I was genuinely interested if it was worth shelling out over a ton on an authentic rta ( Kayfun 4 ) - or would I also encounter the same issue with the chimney as I endured with the Kayfun 4 Clone I bought.

Like I said the concept of this is great and if the threads were buttery smooth, meaning I wouldn't have a chimney stuck fast to the deck, I would possibly shell out the steep price for the real mccoy as it were.

I recently got hold of a russian v2 from a forum member & i can confirm that it is excellent. Easy to build on, a side filling hole so there's none of that taking the atty off the mod & undoing any screws, you just turn the air flow ring around & fill. The build quality is tops & performance is spot on, click after click the same performance. Designed by the same guy who did the kayfun. For this atty i would not buy a clone because it works so well.
