True Tank Leaks, Gurgles and Slops

I got out my EHPro True tank recently.

I really like it but I can't for the life of me get it to stop randomly gurgling and leaking. I've tried thinning the cotton, and stuffing the cotton. I've tried long tails and super short tails. But *almost* every tank full, it will at some point start gurgling and a big flob of juice will slop out from the airhole.

It doesn't happen regularly enough to seem like an o-ring problem. But while it was never the driest tank, I don't remember having this problem so much before.

Any tips?

I know there is a long thread on the true tank somewhere, but I can't find it in the first 3 pages of results and I'm a bit lazy.

I never had any issues with it when I used it (which I appreciate isn’t helpful) but assuming your builds are fine perhaps it has to do with airflow control? I’ve found that restricting the airflow right down sometimes results in more juice being drawn into the chamber on particularly energetic inhales. Could this be happening to you?

in terms of wicking I never thinned the tails and just cut the wicks to the outside of the deck from
Memory - 2mm Id coils so they weren’t big things.

if all else fails try a 3mm coil over a 2.5mm ???
(drop 1 winding and you should near the same resistance)

Some tanks like the Ares 1, people said a 3mm coil worked better than 2.5mm
(theory was the extra cotton helped stuff/stem the larger juice channel/groove better
so you could have it sealed better without try to over-stuff the coil with max cotton)

a while back there was coil kits with 0.25mm increments
eg: 2.0, 2.25, 2.5, 2.75, 3.0 etc...

but seems like most kits went with 2.5 & 3.0 with nowt inbetween
might be worth trying a 3.0mm to assist & stem risk of leak/gurgles
or seeing if you can find a 2.75 bar/rod to build an in between coil id

raise the coil a smidge more, lift the corners of wick slightly
prior to dropping downwards, and various other bastid shit to try

True is a nice tank but a finicky fucker at times
sometimes it's a piece of piss & others a nightmare
you think you got the bastard sussed - then realise nope, not quite
(cunt leaked overnight & into a Kroma mod which killed the mod
lovely matching blue True & blue Kroma - now wanked for holding charge
cunt cunt cunt bastid True tank cunt cunt cunt leaky wank tank)

you learn a lot about perfecting your technique, but for me personally
I never quite TRUE-ly sussed it 101%

So in the end, with a variety of good/decent tanks
I ended up sticking with the Hastur 3.5 MTL RTA instead
(flavour is not quite as good as True, but a LOT less agro
I changed the drip tip to ones like VF Galaxies & others
reduced condensation but a little bit airy - so not for everybody
but hassle free vaping, building/wicking etc... so stuck with that )

best of luck

If it's anything like the Ehpro Kelpie (the indented juice wells look very similar) you need to get the wicking spot on otherwise it gets a bit pissy. Vaping with Vic's video might help, if you can tolerate him.

Man, I love my hastur. They're just so easy to use, never leak or gurgle, and with the smallest airflow pin thingy they'e one of my favourite vapes. I like the minis too, and they look lovely, but they don't quite cut the mustard in the same way as the 3.5ml one.

Some good things to try there, thanks for taking the time to bang it all out of your keyboard.

Yes, yes it could.

I might try and 3mm and 2mm coil to see if either of them make the problem better or worse.

Yeah I can tolerate him. That was worth watching actually, I never tried wicking it in that way, I'll give it a go.

Yeah I don't mind him in small doses! Hopefully that method works for you ;)

I bought a number of "top tanks" in 2018/2019
in search of the "best tank" crap

Ares 1 - yeah pretty good but a bit hit n miss sometimes so searched for others
Galaxies - fucking gurgled, spat and sometimes leaked a little - fuck that
Ammit - fuck that, more gurgle & flooding, nope that is perhaps worse one
Mantra MTL - nope - just nope, gave that away
True - ooh this is good, when it behaves, but rewicking was a little dicey/lottery sometimes
(got better odds, but still say 1 in 3 or 4 wasn't perfect when rewicking)

Hastur - oh this is what it should be, slap it together with eyes shut

Dvarw - top fill & bits n bobs, yeah can see why people like them
but in the end the Hastur was just the easiest to get on with for hassle free vaping

so stuck with those - now obsolete the 3.5 (bad move Hastur imho)
and had no interest in buying more of the latest tanks after gaining numerous
tanks I never quite got on with, plus a few of them being complete bastids

think there is perhaps a few other RTA's I also bought in a draw somewhere
but those are the ones I can remember & in the end you find a tank that works
for you & you alone - then slowly realise that you will probably stick with ya favourite
for a good while than keep playing the vaping tank lottery when some...

NEW & IMPROVED - TOTALLY REDESIGNED & ENGINEERED TANK LAUNCHES
that some say is the best tank evvvaaaaaaahhhhhhh crap whilst getting clicks/sponsor crap

hence POTV is the only place to read reviews, if members say it's good
and list all its flaws & gripes - then that is the only review you need

end of day, it's what works for you and what you can get on with
the Hastur is not 100% perfect, but it is the easiest & most hassle free tank I own
(even the way thin wire is easily grabbed by grub screws that others fight to grab
thin wire as you tighten, something about the wire channel/grub screw - just works
others that the wire drops in can fight and knock the wire to side as you tighten
obviously other decks with clamps you wind wire around,
but drop in ones Hastur sussed it, I use 1.2 insert I think and AFC fully closed
it still vapes, without worry of finger covering holes etc..., it just works for me)

So much so, not even glanced at any new tanks & shit for well over a year or 18 months
hence not really posting much except for the odd banter debate coz I am settled for vape stuff
