A while ago, I tried twisted Kanthal, for no other reason than that I had run out of thick, so had to twist two strands of thin.
I found the results to be a lot better than single strands, and of course, that may well be all in my mind. A 0.6 ohm twisted coil, just seems to function better than a 0.6 ohm single strand coil whether in kayfun and taifun style tanky things or drippers.
I only use twisted Kanthal these days, and I find that a half an hour with my dremel, twisting batches of wire, to be very therapeutic.
