Personally I think Vicious Ant are partly responsible for this Fiasco, Having seen huge demand for this product they've left the total number of units at a ridiculously low level - why? Surely it cant be because they're too expensive to make, yes it's nice box they've sourced but everything else is fairly standard It cannot cost more than $250 to make. So the only explanation is that they've deliberately used it to create a "Buzz" about their brand artificially jacking up their credibility and desirabilty for future products.

UK Ecig store are not entirely innocent in this matter as a random draw for the item at RRP would have been the most fair. However UK Ecig store are in business to make money and the best way to do that on such an in demand item is an auction - as long as an auction is properly conducted then it is fair. As for the accusations of flipping, this refers to the practice of buying one or more of an item you do not need or want and immediately selling it for a grossly inflated price. This clearly is not the case as I'm sure UK Ecig store would have happily bought a hundred of these, sold them all in days and ordered a hundred more at worst they can be accused of slightly cynical profiteering.

As for the Ebay auction, well the tosser who upped the bid just after the £620 mark ruined the auction for everyone, bid history shows them upping the bid from £620 to £755 in 42 seconds with no other bidders then another trio of bids taking it up to £900 in just 12 seconds with no other bidders. Clearly some one wanted to disrupt the auction - presumably because they had bid earlier at the £450 to £500 mark and did not have enough to keep in the running after it hit £600+

So all those people who bumped the Bid better club together, one of you should now be forced - at gunpoint if neccessary to pay the £100,100.00 just to make the point that if you bid and win - you pay!

So POTV Team, Good call on not banning UK Ecig store...

UK ECig store you naughty bunch of scallywags tried to make a bit extra and it backfired, two weeks on the Naughty step for you!

E-Bay Bid bumpers - You're a bunch of idiots who ruined what was turning out to be a perfectly acceptable auction of a Premium product and also the reason a good number of people like myself distrust and dislike E-Bay... You should be hunted to the ends of the earth and made to pay what you bid, the proceeds from that would make a fantastic charity donation...

So essentially,

VA - in business to make money = frown
Ecig - in business to make money = sympathy
Dissenters = shot at dawn

?

Reserve was £450
Store was selling at £600 previously
(Twice RRP I believe)
If that does not constitute the spirit of "flipping" I don't know what does
Profit before customer satisfaction all the way and completely the opposite of most vendors I have had the real pleasure in dealing with because of this forum
I personally will not be parting with any of my hard earned to a company that shows such a disregard to its customers
These are my personal views and not those of the forum etc
And how they can express surprise at the reaction to the auction is just another indicator of their moral compass dysfunction IMO

Does anyone really care ?
At worst it was a golden advertising opportunity, we are all taking about it and it soon became nothing more than a joke once the bids reached cuckoo land.

I've dealt with UK Ecig many times the past year, visited their store and found them helpful and professional and never got the impression they were only trying to lever some cash out of me. They offer a good range of products at reasonable prices and their service and shipping is up there with the best so IMHO this may have done nothing more than get them noticed.

As for flipping, maybe it started with the the idea of taking a $500 item and passing it on above the £599 others are offering but so what?
No one was being held at gunpoint and if you really wanted it and had the money good luck...

I also agree with the tubby chap above, some idiots for their own reasons sabotaged the auction, it was clearly in the territory of a no sale quite early on and the guys at UK Ecig let it run to enjoy the buzz, I would have done the same, no harm no fail.

Now to business, I have a spare, brand new Stingray X.... Bidding starts at £450.

Actually -
VA, Artifically inflating reputation = Frown but not a shock...
UK E Cig - trying to make money= Frown but understandable - and this will set their reputation back for months at least...
Dissenters - er who said they were dissenters, some may have been but the Bid bumping was started by someone pissed off that it got out of their reach, then a number of "Activists" (In the loosest sense) saw the artificially inflated price decided UK Ecig were evil and bumped the Bids to stupid levels. Anyone caring to check would have seen that the Reserve price had been set at £450, Having seen it on open retail sale at £600 that was a fair reserve - but the "Activists" decided they didnt like this and declaimed that they the mob would rule and proceeded to wreck the auction. I did not say I wanted them shot at dawn - merely they should suffer the consequences of their actions - If you bid, you should be willing to pay what you bid - anything else should be unacceptable to anyone who wants to see any integrity in an auction system, after all you'd want my balls on a toasting fork if I bumped the bids in an auction for something you wanted - costing you extra money or forcing you to drop out...

Hey I never said I thought UKECS were right, just cynical profiteers, VA Have used a limited 200 run of this to jack up their Brand Id, and people who bump bids are at best a nuisance and a worst fraudsters and should be made to pay what they bid in order to discourage the practice. This all may be unpalatable to certain people but its also true - therefore I stand by it...

My 'hmm' wasn't at your post, it was me cogitating what to write about all of the comings and goings.

But if you're going to push me on your issue, you're wrong. Calling a protest "fraud" is nonsensical seeing as no one is defrauded and nothing is obtained by fraudulent means. What has taken place is people using the ability to disrupt something in a peaceful manner in order to make a point.

Will auction be closed ? No
Will said item be made buy it now for a fixed amount ?
Will said item be available in there shop ? No

There is making a small profit and then there's taking the piss !
This took the piss

Why did they feel they needed to make a statement if nothing was wrong ?
Why couldn't they just say it themselves ?

Did people ruin the bid ? Maybe, but it's at that point when it started to get silly they should have acted and put right.

It's still sitting at over 100K and ukecigstore still look like massive chunts in my eyes, all the 15% discounts in the world will not get me in........

I say no more
