An unexplained pneumonia outbreak in Kazakhstan is likely to be the novel coronavirus, a World Health Organization (WHO) top official said late on Friday.

The executive director of the WHO's Health Emergencies Program, Michael Ryan, told an online briefing from Geneva that he.thinks the cases "just have not been diagnosed correctly."

"Likely". Let's hope so. Seems strange tho. They appear to have had no problem diagnosing the 15k cases of known coronavirus over there. Surely it's pretty simple to determine if it is coronavirus or not. And why report a higher mortality if it's the same virus?

Perhaps the tests they have bought are not too accurate.
Perhaps they were listing deaths where no test was done as pneumonia, the Russians were doing this to keep the covid stats down so they looked like they were handling the covid crisis better than they were.

.......... and that's exactly what I thought. I remember many of the cases in Dagestan were reported as being recorded as pneumonia.
