UV Steeping?

How's about direct sunlight and also the dark ... See the difference, bear in mind tho we don't know if the test will show knackerd nic the same as good nic ... May pick both up as nic.

these kind of tritation tests often don't measure the element you are looking for directly but rather are an interpretation of how much of that element is present by other reactions it has caused when introducing reagents.

I think Madvapes did or was doing a test of nicotine concentration over time
They had a bottle refrigerated, a bottle at room temp, and two bottles on a window sill, one open and one closed.

Yeah - exactly ZT - limited value in the home test - but maybe worth a go? I've got one under the stairs (dark and cool), one in the mancave (dark and variable temperature), one in the garden (open to the elements), one in the car (dark/light and hot and cold), one on the kitchen windowsill.

I reckon if I check them once a week until the middle of September and then test each of them on the same day there may be something to report - or we'll all die of boredom in the meantime! Or much more likely - I'll forget all about them and wonder why there are bottles of juice all over the place in weird hidey holes! :rotflmao:

Defo worth a go! Any knowledge we gain is ..... Knowledge gained :D

When you steep juice you are basically allowing time for the nicotine in the mix to react with the other stuff in the e-liquid.

It's a chemical reaction that is speeded up by heat and light. So keeping juice bottles on the window sill will speed up the oxidation caused by the nic. It's also why 0 nic juices don't change colour.

Dexter Thanks for that, I might end up buying that for when the British weather turns normal again, I'll be buying it sooner than later it seems as the weather here has just gone...well back to normal ha :P

Ah, that might explain why my 0mg GVC looks so different to the 6mg even though both are supposed to have been steeped for at least 2 weeks, thanks

Btw occurred to me a question, did you use plastic bottle under the uv? It doesn't melts right? Yes sorry Im a ... well you know :)

no dosent go red wen degrading ive had a fresh batch of pg that was pinkish and that was one of the nicest ive used to mix . but uv will significantly reduce the life of nic base wat actually happens to it apart from loosing nic content im unsure so to be honest i would have to advise against this on the grounds of u dont no wat the chemicals are breaking down to ... could be totally unwarranted but better safe than sorry

and by rights nic tests kits give u the nic content by the solution changing colour at a certain ph so if u can figure out wat coulour each ph the colour changes at then i rekon if u get a swimming pool ph meter u should be abel to tell the mg of ur nic by that tis just a theory of mine tho ......
