Vamo V5 - A couple of useful bits of info - not in the user manual for new owners

I can't see this video playing but I think this might help.

D

It took 5 seconds to play from start to finish???

solder ..... na no solder needed

Hi again BIGG,

Think we might have been talking at cross purposes.

Funny enuff I was talking about re-wiring coils on another
thread a couple of minutes ago.

We were busily trying to be 'vets' for your ailing 'pet Vamo'
and just a little solder will be needed to get the thing
'tip-top & Bristol fashion'.

Read back a little and (hopefully) all will become clear.

Regards

Anthony

Well it is a V1 and I need to learn to talk Frog (rivet rivet.)
For now, just knowing that I can fix it if it ever goes wrong
is comforting enough.

"Merci" - there you go I am talking Frog already!

This could be very embarrassing if it is not in fact in
French!

I tend to agree with you, admittedly the 510 thread on a Vamo
does seem to have more historical concerns than on the mvp or
many other mods.

Speaking as a 'big nut' myself I find no fault with your position.

Problem is the manufacturers of tanks presumably believe in
miniaturisation and all the expensive sophisticated stuff comes
with a 510 thread and a beauty ring to hide the eGo thread.

Maybe a few manufacturers should consider eGo threading on
decent tanks?

i've got one eye open for something else to use alongside the mvp...but half the stuff i want only comes with the 510 thread..bearing in mind that i can easily change evods 50 times a night...the 510's a non starter ..imo

Ive got one on the way and im worried about it now!! Don't want to have spent on something which isn't going to last me a good while!

v5 Vamos are pretty solid mods.

Like all mods sometimes you get a duff one, but they aren't as common as you might think.

A Good rule of thumb for a vamo is buy the stainless steel one.

Two things happen to the brass/chrome types.

i) the plating wears off quickly and they scuff up very easily
ii) the threads on the top cap don't last as long.

If you prefer a 'weathered' look then i) isn't an issue and you can get around ii) by using an airflow controller or an adapter to screw into the top that you then screw your tanks into. You can also buy replacement top caps from places like Steathvape and there are a few posters here who can help you out replacing it, or giving good instructions on how to do it yourself (check out the modders section)

Also always always ALWAYS set the Vamo to RMS mode.

MEAN mode is bad, it's so bad that it shouldn't be there at all. MEAN mode doesn't deliver what it says it will accurately, it's so far out that frying coils is all too easy.

You can stack 18350 batteries in a vamo. It's not ideal from a safety point of view, though if you prefer the output from stacked batteries:

i) USE IMR BATTERIES - these will be a lot safer if you over stress one
ii) Use PAIRED batteries.

Basically if you stick 2 batteries that do not have the same charge in them then 1 of the two batteries works much harder than the other. This over stresses the battery and can cause a problem. If the overworked battery decides that you are pushing it too hard and it doesn't want to be a battery anymore it will get very hot and might start venting hot gas. If one goes it will set off the other one as well. You really, really don't want to be holding a metal tube with stuff in it that's on fire.

If you charge them in pairs, and use them in pairs then you won't get this problem.

The circuitry in a vamo will happily push out good power up to about 5 volts. Especially if you are using IMR chemistry 'high drain' batteries which are designed to be happier at higher current levels. for most vaping levels and most normal tanks (proTanks aspire tanks, aerotanks, iclears etc etc) 1 battery should give more than good enough output.

Ive had my V5 for over 4 months now with no problems, it's a great mod, I could also recommend the 134, VTR and the hana modz dna20. All great & easy to use & look after :clapping:

Marcus1960 Not had any problems with the threads etc? Ive got a Aspire Nautilus end this weekend all ready and waiting for the Vamo to turn up and with the 5ml tank I don't think ill be taking it on and off a lot any way

Hi, Ive had no problems with threads at all & I've used -pro tanks, protank mini's, kayfuns, evods etc & all have been fine, the only advice I would give would be "don't over tighten"! Some people tend to be a bit heavy handed when screwing on a tank, but it doesn't need over tightening!
