The folks at @Sourcemore kindly sent me Vandy Vape’s latest AIO kit to review, the rba and tank appear to be very similar to the Pulse V2 but apart from the drip tip air pipes the mod is quite different.

It’s available at the time of this review at https://www.sourcemore.com/vandy-vape-nova-aio-kit.html with the coupon code VVNA for around £38.

What’s in the box

The accessory bag contains spare o-rings and hex deck screws, an allen key and a coin shaped token for screwing the flush nut that also fits the battery cap.

I received the Silver shiver version, there is also a Little Green one.

The Mod

It’s a nice looking, very compact mod and the black top, base, front and button panels go well with the silver body, they’re silver on the black version. There’s a fair bit of weight to it, 231g with the rba and battery, it feels solid and the build quality is decent. The front panel is held by 2 magnets at the top and slides out so could be customised, it’s a bit loose at the base as there’s nothing to hold it there so it can rattle a bit especially if you tap it but a smidgeon of blue tack sorted that. The button cover is held by 4 magnets and it and the button could also be could be customized.

The short, wide, drip tip can be used with 3 different internal bore airflow pipes by pulling the sleeve tip off and removing and replacing a pipe. The internal bore of the pipes isn’t specified but looks to be under 2mm and around 3mm and 4mm, without a pipe it’s just under 5mm. You may need to remove the drip tip sleeve to fully tighten the flush nut, you can use a flush nut/drip tip of your choice which is good and something I'd do. As a tank fits sideways you fill from the side, one that only fills from the front needs to removed to fill, air comes in from the front and sides and I had no issues with blocking it when using.

The large clicky fire button due to the design is in a low down position but other than swapping it for where the screen is, which I’d prefer, it’s really the only place for it. I found it easier to use than I expected with your ring finger in either hand, the edges are a bit angular but it’s comfy enough in the hand. The -/+ recessed buttons and usb charging port (1A) are on the base, the positive connection is adjustable and seems well sealed. The screen is small but I could read the displayed watts or volts, ohms and a battery bar with 5 divisions, it turns off after about 30 seconds of inactivity. There’s a large red + marking at the base of the battery compartment and the exposed battery is recessed, the flat battery cap isn’t that easy to get a grip off.

The basic variable wattage or voltage chipset is straightforward to use and works fine, it retains the settings when turned off, the mod displays it as the Vandy Chip V3.0 when you turn it off.
  • 5 clicks turns it on/off, it also turns on when you insert a battery
  • 4 clicks locks/unlocks the +/- buttons only
  • 3 clicks and then press the + or – button to switch between VW or VV, press fire to confirm
  • Wattage (5-60) and voltage (0.5-8) are adjusted by 1watt and 0.1volt using the +/- buttons (no round robin)
  • Pressing the + and – buttons is supposed to turn the display on/off but it didn’t
  • Pressing the + and – buttons twice re-reads the coil resistance, I’ve no idea if it did or not

The Boro Tank & RBA

The tinted PCTG tank feels solid and can be filled from the front or the side and you can see the juice level, it has 4 airflow holes at the front and back which as it fits sideways is a very close fit to the back of the mod. When fitting the base there’s a small tab on one side of the tank that slots into a cut out on the base.

The RBA comes with 4 under coil marked airflow pins (1.5, 2, 3 and 4mm) so suits loose mtl, rdl and dtl vaping, they can be changed on the fly, the chimney bore is about 4mm. The o-ring at the top of the tank is a tight fit to the chimney which is held by a not overly tight o-ring to the chamber which has two largish juice holes that are in line with the wick similar to a number of other rbas. You can remove the deck with juice in the tank though the chamber can come with it, for building it screws directly onto a mod or tab after removing the ring on the base.

The deck has parallel posts with tiny hex screws which I found it a bit fiddly, I used my own 28g Kanthal 2.5mm id coil, cut the cotton to outside the deck, fluffed, primed, fitted the chimney and gently pushed the cotton into the wicking holes.

I vaped a 50/50 NET and it gave a nice vape and good flavour, the 1.5mm air pin gave a quiet, smooth, loose mtl draw, the smallest air pipe makes it a bit tighter and warmer, the 2mm air pin gave a similar rdl draw. Aside from the expected condensation I did have some juice collect at the base of the mod so I tried a 3mm coil and a 70/30 mix but it didn’t really make a difference.

Final Thoughts

It’s a nice looking, very compact, easy to use AIO mod that’s comfy enough to vape in either hand though smooth edges would make it more so. The rba is straightforward to build on and most importantly gives good flavour though the tiny hex screws are a bit fiddly and mtl isn’t it’s forte. For the price it’s a very decent AIO boro kit.

Nice review and it looks a decent mod but it`s not for me, IMO the whole point of AIO / BB style vaping is the interchangeable, plug and play type versatility and this kit has a proprietary tank which can bring it`s own problems when stuff is discontinued,

Good review, 👍 even reading between the lines I think that could be the budget AOI for me.
Well done.
