I'm a bit late to the party here, but here's my 10 pence:
Dont even think about dropping your Nic level until you're 100% off the stickies - a good couple of months after you've had your last sober stinky. I vaped 24mg for quite a long time and followed the thought process of "Nic isn't bad for me, so I'm going to fill my bloodstream with so much of the stuff that even if I were handed a lit cigarette, I wouldn't want to take a drag". I then moved to 18mg for a few months, then half the juice I was buying was 12mg, then I got into DIY juice and dropped down to 6mg. Have tried 4mg but just end up Vaping far too much, so settled on 6mg for a while. That drop from 18mg to 6mg took about a year - I'm sure you could do it quicker, but there's absolutely no rush.
High PG is probably better if you're still coming off the stinkies as it gives a harsher throat hit and carries higher flavour notes better than VG. VG gives you a denser cloud and a wetter, smoother vape - great for creamy or dark flavours, but less able to carry complex flavours. For the moment, I'd stick with PG heavy or 50/50 blends, then once you no longer think about cigarettes, start experimenting.
And finally, welcome!
