Dear darling vendors,

Some of you sell wonderful things, provide wonderful service and have smashing websites.

But if your payment option is only accessible to people with or who want to set up a Paypal account some of us can't buy from you.

Can I please ask you really nicely to open up your payment options to include payment by card or at least to have the payment by card with Paypal option?

Thank you.

PayPal comes with the accept card payment as standard - why would any vendor NOT enable this?

A lot of customer don't look much past the login on the paypal screen where there are options to pay by cc/dc. Paypal make it small and hard to see.

We accept credit cards onsite now and also ditched nochex as it has a habit of authorising payments for international orders then not completing the transaction due to it's overzealous anti fraud system. That meant the customers funds were in limbo for a few days, not cool.

We also accept bitcoin :)

S'not you Rob.

I also contacted the vendor concerned directly after no reply here and was basically told 'that is the system we have and we are not going to change it'.

Fair enough, their choice.

Having got some of their juice from a trade I loved it and wanted to buy 50ml - just means I'll spend my money with vendors who are more accommodating and seem to have more of a clue about eBusiness.

Can't see them going bust because of the few like me who can't have a Paypal account as they seem to be the flavour of the month - but if you, Terry, Nata and...well, everyone else out there can use an interface enabling me to just use a debit card on the Paypal site I see no reason why they can't adopt the same system.

I'm very proud of myself now. I've done this entire post without swearing or mentioning them by name.

It's only £20 a month for a proper merchant account with paypal so you can take credit card payments onsite. All you need is a decent ssl certificate. I've not had a lot of good things to say about Paypal previously but the merchant account guy I dealt with was several degrees of awesome. All widely used carts have modular payment methods it's not that hard.

So fair play, I think your grumble is warranted
