Venturi hitting the spot

So what do you like about your RDA? Plenty of flavour, clouds and it doesn't leak? A deep juice well and plenty of variable airflow? The absence of stupid engravings? Nice open deck to build on ... straightforward 3 post design?

Got a Venturi through from FT yesterday, SKU 1967601; cleaned it up, revised by watching a few vids and built it today - 2 x 2.4mm coils, 10 wraps of .32 kanthal showing 0.9ohms. A sensible area for a DNA30 mod.

I'm impressed by this atty. It ticks all the above boxes and finally I've found another dripper that I can trust in my pocket. It comes nicely presented in a box with 3 top caps and the usual spares. It's well built and very clean, though it got another clean anyway. The threading's good and the post screws are decent, no stupidly small allen key grubs. It works really well - plenty of flavour and vapour production. Spot on.

Drawbacks - a little learning curve with the airflow adjustment (see reviews); having to remove both top cap and chimney to add more juice; it's not black; the pos posthole is not huge so thicker wires are out.

I'm very happy with this Venturi, going to be my out and about vape this week.

The original is available from cloud9vaping for £90, the clone from FastTech is USD15.83 (~£12)

This looks good. Sort of half RBA, half RDA.

Does the top cap just pull off and is the chimney attached to it?

No, not an RTA at all, entirely RDA. All the juice is in the well.
The chimney section sits over the deck, with no threading, it rotates freely until the top cap is screwed down fully. There's an o-ring at the top of the chimney to seal. To adjust the airflow you need to back off the top cap, then turn the chimney with the drip tip. The DT sits in the chimney section, you need one that's narrower than the top cap hole.

Took it out today, not a leak, not a single drop. Nowhere near as easy to redrip though.

This post was I thought I'd reply to this rather than create a new one.

Am I on my own with the Venturi?

Really trying to like it, but it has a really tight draw that I'm not used to.

The loose chimney set up is a bit of getting used to.

Like I say, I'm trying to like it.

Really tight draw? Wide open I'd describe it as a restrictive lung hit, about the same as the Aromamizer and the Rogue. I wouldn't call it tight unless you're used to very airy, unobstructed airflow.

I'm still chuffed with it, so much so I bought a second one which turned out to be slightly different in packaging etc to the first one. Probably the best RDA I own for flavour.

The post holes will take 0.4mm kanthal easily enough, I've built it with 3mm coils but I think 2.4mm is about right. You do have to watch the wick position a bit, if you have any under the coils it'll block the airflow. I set my wick ends so they're touching the deck but not covering it.

I've got used to dripping it by just removing the drip tip - the upper section of the chimney is shaped like a cup so juice just runs down onto the deck. After nearly 4 months' use it has never once leaked, not even seeped a drop.

Good to get some other views, I was beginning to think I was the only ape who owned one. :)

EDIT - oh, one more thing - make sure the oring is there on top of the chimney, otherwise it just spins on you. That oring comes off easily when rinsing and cleaning, so make sure there's a plug in the sink! ;)

The authentic from cloud9vaping has been reduced from the eyewatering £90 to a more reasonable £67.46 ... I wonder if those coloured top caps fit the clone? :6:

Thanks for the reply, greatly appreciated.

It's an odd set up (in a good way) and like I said, I really want to like it.

I'm going to give it another go now. I've 26 kanthal in with 3mm coils. Going to try your suggestions, including the wick. I was using cotton and may have been a bit too much in.

I'll report back shortly. :)

Aaaaaaah that's better!!!!

Thanks scrumpox

This time used less cotton and put a mark inside the bell to make sure it didn't move.

My faith in Venturi has been restored!

Top man!! :) Glad it's finally rewarding your persistence.

Lost one of those damn o-rings myself today, it pinged off when I was refitting it after cleaning ... have fed the carpet pile once more!!

I had been looking at this for a month or so, eventually decided to go for it and it arrived earlier in the week from C9.
Just got it set up with 8 wraps of 0.4mm kathal at 3mm, 0.64 ohms. It's not bad at all, got it wide open and it is a bit of a tighter draw than I'd like but not as bad as I thought when I saw close up how the airflow worked.
One thing that could be better is the position of the airholes next to the coils, maybe I need a smaller diameter coil so I can get them a bit closer (and it would be easier to see how much juice is down there).
Clouds are decent but nowhere near my mutation x or derringer which I love. It is definitely more leak proof, only place juice will go is into the space between the outer shell and chimney so it shouldn't make much mess.
Good juice capacity so should get me through the drive to work before a top up. Well made and looks good, something different to what I have so a good solid purchase. Will be interesting to try a few alternatives with coil and kanthal sizes
