Hello my fellow vape Apes..

Today we are going to have a look over the @VOOPOO Drag 3 and Voopoo drag X plus.

These were very kindly sent to me from our very own @StrawberryRipple last week, on behalf of @VOOPOO for his VIP win.

Both of these mods are very similar with a couple of differences for each and they both run the new voopoo TPP coil tanks. So I will do both mods and the tank in 1 review.

Both of these devices are the new additions to the very popular voopoo drag range.

The pod....

Specs-
• Capacity: 5.5ml (Standard) / 2ml (TPD)

• Coils: TPP coil range

• Bottom fill port

• 510 base includes adjustable airflow control

These mods come with the new voopoo TPP tank which features a 510 connection meaning you can use it on a mod of your choice but also meaning you can use the drag mods with any tank you wish.

The pod comes with 2 new coils specially designed for richer flavour and a better vape experience these are the DM coils. Included In both are the DM1 0.15ohm coil and the DM2 0.2ohm coil. Not only that but the new tank Is also compatible with the old pnp tank due to the magnet system which holds the pod in place in the 510 conection meaning, you can use a variety of coils throughout the voopoo range. Which is a great idea from voopoo.

Another new thing to the pod is the fact it has an airlfow option in the tank and also a removable drip tip, which is great meaning you can fine tune your vaping experience or use your favourite drip tip. The only 2 niggles I've had with this so far is that there is no stopper on the airflow not a massive problem and also with the shape of the pod and it being rounded so drip tips may have a slight overhang.

My main issue with pod tanks has always been leaking issues and the plastic feeling hot but so far using these products I've not had any leaking or heat issues.

The coils...

So voopoo have released a new DM range of coils and both these devices come with 1x DM1 0.15ohm coil rated between 60-80w and 1x DM2 0.2ohm coil rated between 40-60w.

So far in testing both these coils all I can really say is wow, the flavours these things produce are really very special, its brought some juices I didnt think much of to life. They produce dense clouds and really good flavour so much that I had primevapes strawberry triffle in one and it felt like I had just eaten dessert!
I'm hoping that this could be a new dietary technique I could sell..

I found that no matter where between the wattage ranges you had it the flavour was very prominent. In the end I've found my sweet spots at 73w on the DM1 and 52W on the DM2 coil.

Drag 3 mod...

The Drag 3 is a dual 18650 device, which is capable of firing up to 177W.
Theres no battery rattle when the door is shut and it's done on a hinge, which has to be pushed down and across to open. One thing I have noticed is that if not pushed fully across before opening it will get stuck which if pulled could pull it off the hinge.

It comes in a 5 different colour options and I recieved the sandy brown with a black alloy and tank which looks very smart.

This mod feels very comfortable in the hand the the leather texture makes it look a classy mod. When loaded with 2 18650s it gives the device a good weight making it feel very solid. It still has the usual drag branding plastered down the side, which I know isnt to everyone's liking.

It is equipped with type C usb charging at a 2A rate. The devices if charged via a cable which isnt advised will charge the batteries at a balance, meaning if 2 non paired batteries are being charged they will be done equally. The polarities are also very clear on the battery door which I always like to see on a mod.

Drag x plus mod...

The Drag X plus is an upgraded version of the very popular drag X its powered by a 21700 or 18650 with sleeve included. It has a power output of 5-100W I haven't attempted 100W as coils dont allow it but I imagine it would work better with 21700 for that output.

The device comes in 5 different colour variants I recievd the smokey grey version which in my eyes is the nicest. As with all drag products it has drag branded down the leather hand grip.

With SS tank, alloy and a grey leather, again it feels great in the hand has a nice weight to it and looks great with a normal tank on top or the pod.

This mod has the same battery door hinging as the Drag 3 and also type c fast charging.

Same features...

Other than the size of the mods ,battery types (single and duel) and output (177W and 100W) capability both these devices are very similar in terms of screens, menus and safety features. Both use the same TPP pod and coils.
The screen can be used in 2 different modes Iron or core. This is basically a different way of saying screen flip I personally prefer the screen in core as it's easier to read.
20210203_142753.jpg core
20210202_224059.jpg Iron

Both show the usual, Wattage, resistance, voltage, puff count and what mode you're in.
20210129_145308.jpg
Fire and up locks the whole device, repeat to unlock.
Fire and down clears the puff counter.
All 3 buttons pressed shows you device information chip Id and level code.
20210203_164359.jpg
Both of these devices host a number of safety protections from the new gene chip which are.
• Overtime protection

• Short-circuit protection

• Overcharge protection

• Output over-current protection

• Over discharge protection

• Over-temperature protection

• Balance charge with different batteries

• Battery reverse protection

PROS and Niggles..

Pros...
  • Great flavour
  • Great looking devices
  • Type c charging
  • 510 connection
  • Different modes
  • Can be used as mod on own
  • Lots of safety features

Niggles...
  • TC not included on device
  • Battery door could snap if not opened properly
  • No stopper on airflow of pod

Overall thoughts..

Well what can I say I think @VOOPOO have smashed it again, I've thoroughly enjoyed these 2 devices, the inclusion of the new pod, new coils and airlfow changes the pods completely for me and having a 510 connection means not only have you got a great kit but also a solid mod if you fancy a change on tanks. The flavour is great and the colour options are all very classy.

I wouldn't reccomend these products to somebody looking to quit smoking but for a vaper who wants a comfortable, easy to use, cloud chucking flavour kit then I would say go for it.

I'm not entirely sure why voopoo have taken TC mode of and included it in an update maybe a future coil idea. It's not a problem for me as I use wattage only but many people may ask the question why?!...

I will 100% continue to use these devices, also my fireluke 22 tank has already claimed the drag x plus and it looks a delight.

Again a massive thank you to @StrawberryRipple for the chance to test these and for @VOOPOO for putting on such a great competition that he won.
