WARNING - Trustfire TR-001 Charger

Touch wood, i have a trustfire 006, this was purchased from torchy on ebay, not had any problems with it!

The Trustfire 001 is known to be a twitchy charger and not IMHO a safe one, Vapourtrails tv did a report on one, when a battery was put in the light showed Red for charge, all good, but when a second battery was put in to charge the one already in would turn green even though the battery still required more charging and the new one inserted showed red also more than a few would flicker between the green and red in each Channel , very interesting charger and best stored in a safe place such as a Bin .

Personally I use a Xtar charger although I have heard (but not tried) that Nitecore are a good reliable safe (as they can be) charger as well .

I've never had a problem with my trustfire TR-001, been using it for 2 years now and other then hearing batteries "whine" if they are drained too much(almost completely dead, rather then just low on charge) it's fine. I'd lean towards just being unfortunate to have a damaged/faulty unit rather then blaming the whole line.

I've seen this happen myself, but only if the first battery has been charging for a few hours before the 2nd battery is inserted. If 2 batteries are put in at the same time they both show red. Major flaw in the charger? Certainly. Doesn't bother me though since I only ever charge 1 at a time XD

I've had 2 TR-001s.. 1 was white, 1 black.

The black one displayed the behaviour that Roadhoguk describes and after seeing that report on VTTV I ditched it. The white one however, has always worked well and has been passed onto my daughter.. along with several other treasures from the vaping sideboard. ;)

I have seen so many posts about Torchy's batteries I take it thats the one with Torchy in the tittle not his seller name..??

The seller actually being Big_f__d_d or something very similar..?

One of the same.

I have a TR001 which i bought from torchy. He claim's they're ok. When i was using it to charge 1 bat at a time it took about 8 1/2 hours for an 18500 -1600mah battery. During charge ,it, or the battery made a high pitched whine which i found a bit concerning. Other than that it works, A uk version too....As it should be.

Anyway, i bought an Efest LUC twin charger (From torchy again) & it's more efficient, no whining noise & i just about trust it.

Hmmm, I've been using a TR001 since I don't know when, other than a Good Power one I got in a kit and don't use, it's the only charger I've ever had. I get the whine and occasionally the "red to green" thing. Maybe it's time to switch to a nitecore?
