What a buffoon

It's thinning the VG with 10% de-ionised water. So 90% VG and 10% water, otherwise it's just too thick and gloopy, for me at least it is.
After this initial error I buy AG now, much easier
I don't usually dilute my vg and as a general rule it's fine but since trying out dual coil setups in my dripping atomizers I've found that sometimes I have to let the wicking catch up slightly so I might try diluting my next batch.

I find a lot depends on the ratio.

50/50 or 70/30 the pg will often do a lot of the work for you.

I buy boots VG in 200 ml bottles. I then put 85 ml of VG in a 100 ml bottle and add 15 ml of purified water ( most chemists can order this for you, about £3-4 for 5 litres) and give a good shake to mix it well.
This I find is the same viscosity as the PG I buy and it wicks perfectly well.
I use purified water because it is Pharma grade and I'm not sure on the quality of deionised water.
I did however spend a fair bit of time sourcing distilled water and this can be bought online quite readily as it has dissapeared from chemists over the last few years.

So I'm thinking a 70/30 PG/VG probably wouldn't need to be diluted. 100% VG and you would dilute to taste (so to speak). Maybe 10-20%. So what about a 50/50 mix? Would you bother or not?

Personally, no.

Can't speak for anyone else though :D

This was something I also wanted to know the answer to, so thank you :)

I bought a load of stuff this week to start mixing and have been confused by this thread, is the OP referring to 100% VG juices needing thinning? Because I was intending to do 70PG/30VG, and my nic base is VG.

So if it was you, and you had the above VG nic base and were aiming for 70/30 PG/VG, you wouldn't bother diluting anything, you'd reckon that would be ok?

Sorry for the numpty question! :)

I have never found the need to dilute 50/50 or 70/30 juice at all. I have never tried 12.5/87.5 juice (You cant possibly get 100% VG juice!) but its something I am going to try :)

Nope, never had to :D

I never mix more than 50% VG anyhoo, so there's always a minimum of 50% more "loose" liquid to water down for me as it were :D

My first attempt, and it was my very first go at mixing anything I did a 50/50 with VG and it was just too thick for me. When I could get some on the wick it tasted of chemicals and hateful, the rest of the time it just wouldn't wick. That was in an AGA t+ with a rope wick.
But it was also my first go on the rope wick. Anyway it was a massive failure and I now buy AG. When I started this thread I didn't know that some people did vape un-thinned VG and put it down to a noob error
