I was going through my RTA collection cleaning them up after years of not being used, and I came across an old favourite of mine- the OBS Crius, and the Vaporesso gemini.

Where the Gemini is like the Crius but on steroids with top as well as bottom airflow, I thought I would go for the Crius as my first dual coil tank build in a while.

I just went simple, two 10 wrap 26G SS316L 2MM ID coils, and fitting them was a doddle. Wicking was super easy too as you just tuck the tails into the holes where the juiceflow adjustment lines up with.

It's vaping lovely at 45W with TC at 270C on my hotcig DX200 with the dual 18650 adapter, so technically a DNA133 and not 200 in that mode. I forgot how good a tank that produces a bit more vapour can actually taste, I can definitely taste the strawberry in my mothers milk V3 more than the RDA I was using on my mech or the Kylin mini single coil RTA.

Only problem is I think from the deck size getting even 2.5MM coils in might be a struggle so best to stick at 2MM, but it is only a 22MM RTA.

I am going to build the Gemini next, something a bit bigger as I remember that is power hungry and thirsty, but also tastes great.

What are some of your favourite RTA's, and why exactly?

Evl reaper V1, just totally suited my style of vape at the time, still does every now and then, but there are easier rta's to wick these days that can handle thicker juices.

I never tried one of those out myself, although I do recall an American guy from the other vaping forum sending me a box of goodies, that included my first RTA and he told me "If you can wick that, you will be able to wick anything"- if memory serves me correctly it could have been called a rose?

Yeah I am using 70VG/30PG, and the Crius is keeping up fine with that, but the juiceflow holes are fairly large to the cotton so would expect so.

Aye that would be an Eden Rose, never had one myself but remember the hype , looked like wayyyy too much hassle for me.

The oldest RTA'S I use are the Blotto's, the mini for 3.5mm single coil and the Max for dual coil, everything older is in the graveyard shoebox.

For RDA's I daily use the Haku Venna, sometimes I get out the Berserker V1 MTL RDA to use up bits of left over 50/50 juice.

The Crius is an awesome rta. One of my favourites. Then they fucked it all up when they brought out the v2.

My favourite is still the OG Zeus. Then they fucked it all up with the X and whatever came after that.

From my Hazy memory it must have been the V1, but for the life of me can't find it online. It was a bugger to wick, but once I had that mastered every other RTA I had from there on was so easy to wick.
I did have a Kayfun V4 clone by I believe tobecco so was high quality that I gave away on here a few weeks ago, 41 parts to a RTA was too much for me so I only ever tested it, hopefully the new owner is getting on with it well.

The Blotto's look like nice RTA's, I think my newest in the collection is probably the Kylin Mini which can take a fairly big single coil, that goes to show how long it has been where I haven't bought a new RTA or RDA. Just where I was cleaning up what I had I thought I would try out some of my stuff.

The Hakku Venna looks like a nice low profile RDA, the closest I would have is the Jaybo Bambino in size, and I must admit I have never had a MTL RDA only DTL.

Using it had made me remember what I liked about the tank, I also like it is very stable with the SS316L in resistance reading so TC is working as it should. Only thing is I remember now it is a thirsty bugger, so lucky I am making my own juice again.

What happened with the V2? I remember there were two versions of the V1, one with a velocity style deck that was newer, one with single post holes that was the first out, only thing was going by the packaging you didn't know which version you was going to get.
I have two with the single post holes and not the velocity style deck.

I never had a Zeus, although have plenty of other RTA's I also need to build like the Bellus, Billow V2's, aromamizers etc most of the popular tanks that came out.

What did they mess up with the X over the OG Zeus?

Sorry, I said that wrongly. Referred to them as Crius and Crius v2. The ones I mean are actually both Crius 2. The single coil version and then the dual coil version. The single coil was badass. The dual coil was shite, and many faulty that would mean you couldn't undo them.

The X just didn't compare to the OG. With the OG they nailed it with the air flow posts. Get your coil position right and the flavour was second to none. Then they decided to do the X with the chimney piece and all that. A very unremarkable RTA in comparison, IMHO.

I see, I never tried the Crius 2 so can't comment, but the OG crius is definitely up there with my favourite RTA's. I checked out the Crius 2 single coil and it looks like a nice RTA, quite an interesting build deck with the triangle shaped screw as well.

It is annoying when companies try to improve on something that is already great isn't it. How do the newer versions of the Aromamizers compare to the original RDTA's? As I will probably build either the 3ML or 6ML version later, I remember that being a great tank too.
Only thing was the airflow ring was just a rubber vape band, they could have made that a bit more polished.
I actually have a new airflow band I can use from stealthvape that came free with my order of wire the other day to jazz things up a bit lol.
